Jordon Ibe vs Adelaide United:
Would be very surprised if he didn't have a big impact for us this season given his current trajectory, in all the talk about how we're going to fit in all of these big money players in the final third it's easy to forget about this guy but if he continues the way he's going it's going to be incredibly difficult to leave him out.
Which is why I don't think we'll buy anyone else. They'd love another shirt-seller like Pjanic, but without UCL it will be hard to get them. Plus they might want to hold some money in case they go the chop and go the Klopp.

Jordon Ibe vs Adelaide United:

He is looking sharper, stronger and more confident every time I see him. That rare combination of skill, elite speed, strength & balance make him one of those players who are just impossible to defend against when they're up and about. In terms of his physical attributes he reminds me of a typical South American forward - big ass and thick around the core making him extremely difficult to knock off the ball (Suarez/Tevez come to mind).

The club are pretty happy with his development and will thrive with Sterling gone. Fowler said that the only reason the club were happy to let Sterling go was because of Ibe' s potential. Let's hope he develops into a top class footballer.

Anyone thinking Gomez maybe winning that LB spot over Moreno atm?

He was super impressive last night in the 1st half I thought.

Depends on the team we are playing. Moreno very good pushing forward but needs to develop his defensive game which should happen at age 22. If he doesn't improve this season I imagine we'll move him on this time next year.

He was much better defensively which is a big tick. Moreno did look good on the offense... Wonder if he will find a role higher up the ground (wing) throughout the season. ATM I like Gomez for defensive reason, with Moreno playing an impact role off the bench

Back from Adelaide. Had a good (but short!) time. Thanks to those who gave suggestions as to what to do. Went to Glenelg, which was great, before checking out the city and heading to the match. Happy that I finally got to see Adelaide Oval and thought it looked extra fantastic given that it was full of Liverpool supporters! Pretty congested bridge on the walk back after the game though, haha!

On to the game itself, I thought we were decent without being anything special and were generally in control of proceedings. I guess it should be remembered that in not having Sturridge, Coutinho and Firmino, we are currently playing without three components of what is likely to be our first-choice attack (four if you include Benteke). And Can is likely to feature heavily in either midfield or defence as well. So it's hard to draw too many conclusions. But some thoughts:

- Would have liked to have seen more of Markovic, and am surprised with how little we have seen of him so far. In fact, given the size of the squad we brought out here, I don't really understand why we haven't used more of it.

- Ibe looks very promising, but needs to work on some of his decision-making, which will hopefully come with time. I think he needs to be a bit more selfish with the ball at his feet, such as shooting every now and then when he is within range. Having said that, he would be hard to defend and some of the link-up play between he and Clyne (and Origi at times) was very good and something that could be a strength for us this season.

- I thought that Gomez put in another strong showing. I said it after the last game and I know it is only pre-season against vastly inferior opposition but he looks extremely talented, one of those players that despite his age, looks and plays like he has been around for years. Early days but the signs are really promising.

- Ings took his goal well, a nice striker's goal.

- Origi needs a loan for the season, ideally to another Premier League side. Very raw and doesn't quite look like he belongs just yet.

- Milner has been great so far and his experience and mentality as well as his quality will be very useful for us.

- We all know that Henderson works hard but, when you are at the game, you gain an appreciation for the huge amount of ground that he covers.

- Noticed that Sean O'Driscoll wasn't on the bench (and apparently he wasn't on the bench against Brisbane either). Anyone know what is going on there?

Overall, an enjoyable Adelaide experience and a good start to pre-season for the club.

It seems like there's a clear plan to play our best players to make sure they are primed for the start of the season. It was pretty much our strongest XI (minus the players that aren't here) in both games so I think everything Rodgers has done so far is gearing towards that brutal start we have away from home (both physically and tactically).

That's just my theory on why the fringe players aren't getting a run, could be complete rubbish.

I don't think there's much wrong with what Ballotelli's said there. He was around Sterling every day last year or so, there's a good chance he's just sticking up for a mate.

Players are always going to have a different perspective to things to the fans when it comes to loyalty and whatnot.

I completely understand what your saying. There's a fine line in playing your best XI but you still need to play your other players for a fair amount of time because if we get injuries early on we don't have being in underdone players

to be fair to city or citeh, they've only come to be a powerhouse of late. people new to the game will gravitate towards them but the supporter base will grow slower as impressionable teens become more exposed
You have to wonder what would happen to LFC if we were bought by some super rich Arabian prince though.

Look at them before they were bought out by etihad.. Makes a hell of a difference. Same thing would happen if someone like QPR were bought by etihad
