Due to work/travelling had to have yet another internet blackout (morning kick offs really dont work for me) and just finished watching the game. What a performance, absolutely dominated them. They seemed to not be up for the fight and I wonder if that is a "from the top down" result of LVG. Klopp was pumped for the game as were the players.

Just a few quick thoughts before i get the Vasoline out. Sturridge seemed a little pissed at being subbed and after them game, as an old uni student studying psychology I think that's a good and bad thing, it means he wants to stay out on the park and has confidence in his body but after sitting down for 15 minutes he should have calmed down and become more rationale to realise it is for the greater good and his own good.

Origi came on and did exactly what you want, ran into spaces, made the defenders accountable and generally stretched their defence so they couldn't push too high to chase the game.

Everyone played well today, I thought Henderson was great and Moreno solid as well. Lallana has some of the quickest feet I have seen, he is remarkable and I know a few people want to move him on but I think he should stay (not sure what his wage is?), he works as hard as Henderson but is more creative and the link up play he, Firm, Cout & Studge have is very exciting. If our finishing was sharper we would have won 3 or 4 nil. Joe Allen is also rock solid and we should try to keep him unless we receive a ridiculous offer for him.

We have Henderson, Lallana, Milner, Allen, Can, Lucas and moving forward Tex, Kent & Chirivella. I would look to bring in ONLY wingers if they all remained. Milner wont go because of his wage, Henderson is obviously the captain so there will be some tough choices to make at the end of the year because we have arguably 6-8 similar players there.

For me at the moment I am quite optimistic about our squad. If you look at who we have and who is arriving/returning there is near enough to work with.

Ings, Sturridge, Origi, Benteke

The mids I've mentioned plus Markovic returning.

The backs Clyne, Smith, Sakho, Lovren, Moreno, Gomez, Matip, Skrtel.

Need a new keeper though not sure it's high on Klopp's priorities.

Bring in one or maybe two STARTING XI players and I think we'll improve heaps. We don't need any more of this diamond in the rough recruiting, we have enough rough and should only spend on diamonds for the next transfer window.

tl:dr Pretty much a jod23 style post :thumbsu:
how many players are allowed in the squad each year?

if we go through this thread i think each player has been proposed to be moved on, and just as many posts advocating the same players stay. lol.

Yeah, but it's a great result so we're entitled to be stoked with it.

I'd like to think we're competent enough to net a goal at OT, requiring United to knock four in for a result. Considering their offensive form against us in 2016, it's unlikely. In fact, the last time United put 4 past us was over a decade ago.

We just need a goal.
Maaaaaaate. You are asking for it.

This is annoying, stuff like this always happens to give us late hope of miraculously finishing in the top four but we really arent that far away.

Currently seven points behind City with a game in hand. Win that game in hand and we are just four points behind them and just five behind Arsenal with plenty of games still to play.

I will not get my hope up though, we're not consistent enough yet.

Impressive from Bobby Firm. Obviously he isnt the next Suarez or anything but it bodes well for him moving forward that he could perhaps replace some of the amazingess that left when Suarez walked.

I also read in the article that the author mentioned that Firm is on his way to winning LFC's player of the year. That kinda side swiped me but he's probably right. His 2015 was fairly average but he's been dynamite since the turn of the year.

Plus I cant think of anyone else who has really stood out. Maybe Clyne, perhaps Can, Coutinho maybe.

Also blokes who I thought were definitely gone at seasons end are really starting to play well and are playing for their Liverpool futures. Lallana and Allen are the two that come to mind. Lallana has been brilliant lately, three goals and three assists in his last seven games.

Allen hasnt managed to make it into the starting lineup but everytime he comes on, he has been brilliant. Klopp playing him further forward too which is bonkers as he couldnt score in a brothel. But he's been excellent.

Outside of Benteke, I couldnt really tell you who Klopp doesnt fancy and will be looking at the exit door this summer.

Our next game is Southampton, win that first before even vaguely talking about top 4. After that game it's a stretch of winnable games

City still has a better run home, I'd think about it as a possibility only if we get within like 2 points of them

Klopp playing him further forward too which is bonkers as
BR also played him there, which is why we know:
he couldnt score in a brothel.
:) But given I can remember some of those misses were only by a foot or so, hopefully he can get a few more. He's a smart footballer, so worth having around the squad (like how Flanno is great for the squad, even mid-injury, due to his desire).

Offensive stats update:

lfc1516-2.jpg

The numbers may have a typo, from me or from the person doing them (e.g. last time I did this, they had Gomez with a goal instead of an assist and when changing that they deleted the goal without shifting it to assists), but overall they give a good picture.

Other than changes in form or luck (Firm, Lalz and to a lesser extent Milnz), the main thing the update shows is Hendo's injury greatly effecting his numbers (he was averaging a goal/assist every 386min). Tekkers average has only moved out by 9mins.

Jod is right, Firmino was never played upfront for Rodgers. Wingback yes, upfront no. Not that any of it matters to most people

If we get Gotze it'd be Coutinho Firmino Gotze Lallana Milner Ibe Markovic ++++ assuming Sturridge stays fit, gotta be a quite bloated amount of attack options. Wonder what'd happen to Ibe

Gotze would be the right signing, too, as good as it is to see Lallana improve so much lately Gotze would just be better
