sorry if already posted, but as i was entering shower andy maher (melbournes own from SEN) reported on SEN that foster has had a great game and saved a stevie G penalty. he then says as is the liverpool way west brom will score in the 90th min and win 1-0....

not a moment later he adds "you wont believe it but west brom have scored".

sigh.

i reckon there's a sense of apathy in the club. class players like gerrard and suarez look around and think wtf is this shit? why is this shit player here? we're playing 2 vs 11.

looking at the team there really appears to be no size. is this a function of BRs game plan? players around the same height, or less. no big physical players doing the yeomans work. no BBC (big black c***, not big black coq) providing protection for the little blokes.

and the shirt looks cheap and nasty. queen vic market quality.

So many false dawns. Losses like this make me so angry it's unbelievable. How are we prone to losing at home to such dire teams. Make no mistake, West Brom have been absolutely dire recently. Yet we manage to make them look good. F*cking penalties!!! How F*cking hard is it? Honestly.

One thing is for sure after that effort and a few other awful displays there will be quite a few comings and goings during the next window.
The problem is who to buy and where to start and how much will Rodgers have to spend?
After today i am all in favour of bringing in another striker if Suarez or Sturridge is injured we look lost up front Borini is not going to cut it by the looks of things.

Disgusting really. Our problems are mostly at the back however. All our CBs are rubbish or retiring, and Reina has been pretty awful all season. And the back ups are even worse.

How we spent 11 million on Borini is beyond me as well.

Lost the plot this morning!!
I knew before Gerrard had taken the penalty Foster was gonna save it!!

Cant really say anymore to what has already been said!!

Positves : Borini made some good runs i thought when he came on, werent rewarded all the time but his movement was good1
When sterling came on we looked more likely to score but didnt really create a clear cut chance with that!!
Coutinho had some nice touches i spose!!

Apart from that utter shite!! Same old story Dominate possesion but do Sweet FA with it!! All teams have to do is park the bus and wait for a set piece or a counter and were ******!! Gotta stop rocking up thinking we have games won against teams we should beat go out there and play like were playing shitty or united etc each week!!

We play shit and/or lose.

Every ******* supporter in this thread: We're shit, we'll be lucky to get 9th, worst defenders in the league.

Rodgers has to wear a bit of flack for his starting line up. Shelvey had done nothing to warrant a call up and moving Henderson to a false LW looked very strange considering how well he'd been doing in central midfield. Guess what happens? Both those players get subbed after 60 fruitless minutes.

Agger 'had a Walters'. Not just for the defensive errors but for missing our best (and only) chance in the 1st half. He should've buried that header but he's always been poor in the air. At age 28 that ain't gonna change.

Penalty decision was soft as shite. Justice was served but I have to say it was one the tamest penalty attempts I've seen in quite a while.

However, I'd agree with others that the main problem though was the overall lack of urgency. Passing was awful. It smacked of a complacent attitude.

We simply have to beat Swansea in our next game on Sunday. Its last chance saloon. I'd basically write off the trip to Zenit in a few days.

Last chance for what?
A place in Europe maybe? I guess I'm still hoping there's a 5% chance we could go on a decent run and those above us start dropping points. Admittedly it's a pretty bloody forlorn hope, but with still 3 months of season to go it'd be galling to simply say "we've got nothing to play for in the league, lets just experiment from now on".

8 points + GD behind 5th place, not a chance with 12 games to go.

We'll need to win Europa to qualify next year, which is nearly as hard as the above.

25 - Liverpool had 25 shots without a goal tonight. Only Chelsea (26 v QPR H) have had more without scoring in the PL this season. Blank.
It didnt even seem like we had that many though. Of all the shots I think only Borini's miss and Downings long effort were genuine chances (other than the penalty)
Johnson had a bad night, Shelvey was offside most of the night, Suarez couldn't create anything. Crap game

Gerrards Strike in which Foster just stuck an arm out and saved it! and then Borini missed the follow up!

Johnson almost put one in early, Shelvey scored on the rebound but was, surprisingly, offside. Henderson almost scored as well. And we were agonisingly close to getting an own goal.

Not sure why Shelvey started though, reckon Sterling would have been better from the beginning. Just a bad game overall for everyone I suppose. Passing was poor for extended periods, yet we still should have been a goal or two up by the time they got their goal.

Yet again we work so hard to create chances yet our opponents pounce on our defensive errors. Defensive overhaul needed I think. But if that's how we're going to play up front when we're missing Sturridge, we might need another striker come next season as well.

I know we'll be better with Sturridge back in the line up and maybe even Coutinho starting. But seriously, this kind of sh*t is what makes being a Liverpool supporter so frustrating. West Brom FFS.

That reminded me of when I was first learning FIFA and didn't know how to finish yet, I used to have 28 shots to 1 and lose 1-0.

Just shows again what an amazing difference Sturridge has made. I'm getting a little concerned about Borini though, he's been fairly anonymous every time I see him.

To be fair to Padman, he cops plenty of flak around here for what might be a 'pessimist' view, so hes entitled to claim vindication.

Yes it is another game controlled, but no matter how much you dominate or perform well 'all round', there is no denying the state of our defence (at times)/finishing/mentality during games. It happens too much to be considered unlucky, though that is sometimes the case, and though there is cause for optimism in the good games, Padmans realistic view is really the closest we'll get, for now.

For me, I'm willing to give time to the younger lads, as they have improved immeasurably in the past month, not just in terms of results but all round quality. I won't pass judgement just yet. I can hope that this was just a blip, even though its more likely we'll still need a fair bit of improvement to get to European quality.
