Sturridge is already so important to us. without being as good as Torres was, he gives the team what Torres used to: playing off the last man, being a pace threat and getting on the end of things. He frees up Suarez to wreck havoc as well, Suarez is wasted playing off the last line

We certainly missed Sturridge but it would be going a bit far to suggest he was the difference. Everyone was off their game last night.

We might have to be patient with Borini. He's still only 21, he's come back from a serious injury and he's adapting to foreign league. The issue is that we paid 10.5m for someone who's essentially a development player. Time will tell if its been a worthwhile investment.

8 points + GD behind 5th place, not a chance with 12 games to go.

We'll need to win Europa to qualify next year, which is nearly as hard as the above.
5th, 6th and 7th usually get EL football do they not? Maybe one place goes to the League Cup winner? So maybe only 5th and 6th? Im not sure, missing out on european football altogether is becoming a reality. Not good.

I think it depends on who wins the FA Cup and Carling Cup.

Sturridge whilst being important wasnt the difference. We should still be able to beat WBA at home. But every players looked complacent, lacked urgency and lacked belief.

Never said he was though, but we'd definitely have scored

I don't think everyone looked bad, we played decently when Sterling came on and up until the pen miss

Agree to an extent. We played ok. Whether we should have scored or not was debatable, we never really created clear cut chances. A few half chances. The penalty was never a penalty and i knew the football gods would make Stevie miss it. As the game went on I knew exactly what would happen. It happened.

Typical Liverpool.

Yeah I knew that Gerrard would miss, it just didn't feel like our night, on top of the fact that it never should have been a penalty to begin with, he was never going to score.

We weren't at our best, but West Brom pulled off the ultimate smash and grab - to think that they could win 2-0 despite not even managing a shot for 80 minutes is remarkable.

Johnson had his worst game for some time, Enrique and Agger both had poor games and we really missed Sturridge.

Having said that, it would be nice if we could somehow "steal" a win some day soon in the same sort of way that West Brom did against us (perhaps not being dominated to the same extent as West Brom were).

We put in all this effort week after week, play well in general but don't get anywhere near the reward for effort that we should.

I can't remember the last time where it felt even remotely as if we got an undeserved result in OUR favour?

west ham was when we fought hard and snatched a win but even then it was earned well, people say losing diame changed their game but losing enrique changed ours so.

bradford or swansea will be in europe so that's one spot.

First game at Anfield, what a game it was. :(
Unlucky mate.. if it's any consolation my first game at Anfield was back in 2002 I think and we somehow lost to Southampton IIRC. 2-1. Heskey scored with about 10 minutes to play but we couldnt find an equaliser. We also went behind in the first minute or so of the game.

Ive been many times since and seen some terrific games including two hatties from Torres.

I'm watching Liverpool TV at the moment on one hd it's showing all our goals from the glory days and the era of Ian rush, king kenny, Aldridge and Beardsley. What a time for the LFC :( .

At least we have... Borini and Downing to star for us...

Steve Nicol, extremely underrated. And Graeme Souness would have sat comfortably in any list of the best midfielders of the 80's, absolute monster of a player.
