Maybe the club is just misleading the media or weeding out moles.

I really can't see us giving up more than 25m for Mane anyhow, even if he is a primary target. It's so early in the piece, Southampton are just sticking a massive fee up to dissuade buyers or at least start from a good position to negotiate from.

You've gotta consider how hugely inflated transfer fees have become over the last couple of years too.

I'd much rather stump a little less for a really good LB, then wait for Markovic and how he goes in pre-season before thinking about stumping that much cash just to buy more pace

Besides, if Gotze actually changes his mind and comes here then we shouldn't need to buy another attacking player

Liverpool, Chicago Bulls.
God it was all going so well. Klopp like signings in a young CM with potential from the Serbian league, then two quality from his own backyard, the Bundesliga. Matip and Karius were good business.

Then the committee comes in and ****s everything up. Robertson and Chilwell? Really? Saido Mane???

I have read that Klopp is keen on Mane but I just dont see it or understand it.

I do also think that Klopp thinks we have some gems and he wants to work with them. I think Klopp is shit hot on Brannagan, Ojo, Can, Origi. Maybe he think he already has several pieces in place with just a little coaching needed. JoGo is another. Klopp loves to mould young players and turn them into world beaters.

But who really knows whats going on.

I just hope for the best. Plus it's not my money.

Buying from England though. IM SO OVER THAT!

No one is signed and it's not even July, stop flippin' out.

Maybe Klopp rates Mane. What if he was a physically exceptional winger/AM from an upper mid table Bundesliga side who had a 1 in 3 scoring record and was coming into his physical prime?

Mkhitaryan will cost less than Mane, take that in
Not comparable. Mane is under a long term contract. If Mkhitaryan had the same length of contract left he'd cost 40-50m easily.

I don't understand why ww don't walk away when the asking price becomes excessive. Happened with Tekkers, we should have walked at 23m.

It is comparable, it's doing smart deals, not doing it when you know you're gonna get ******. We get ****** every single time, Benteke's contract would have like 1 year left if we just waited one more year, instead we paid the full clause and got taken for suckers by Villa

I'm tired of us going for the lazy option and waste our money

I think the actual fee would be closer to 25-30m. Again, really early days and Southampton will be tough negotiators.

Firmino cost like 30m. Less of that physicality but perhaps a better record over 2 seasons. He did only score 7 goals the season before he landed in Liverpool.

I get that there could be better options and it feels like groundhog day but Mane isn't some slouch.

Bundesliga - Leroy Sane has a 40m price on his head and he's scored 11 league goals in his career. Granted, he probably has a higher ceiling but potential is just that - potential.

I'd be amazed if Soton sells for less than 30 mil, they have all the cards and they know us, we'd just pay it

We were taken for suckers for the Firmino deal as well, but he was one of the most highly rated Bundesliga players, he was better and had more potential than Mane. If we bought Firmino one year earlier it wouldn't have been so expensive.

At the end of the day no one wastes money better out of all the rich clubs than us, I just for once, wanna see value for money in our transfers, doing smart sensible things. So tired of us spending so much damn cash and still be midtable

This.

The cash we repeatedly piss into the wind and still finish 5th to 8th is criminal. Criminal.
