Funny result but not surprising - all the 'crowds' seeing the houses etc must have realised they were not value for money and/or the changes were terrible.

9 are laughing though - minimal prize money given and good ratings.

Renovation done on a budget by amateurs trying to cut corners. I'm not surprised they didn't sell.

Channel 9 are laughing all the way to the bank though. Consistently averaged over 1.5 million viewers throughout the series, 3 million for the finale and a peak of 3.4 million.

Renovators rated 407,000. ****ing lol.

That knob in the pink...did anybody notice the 2 birds that were there with him? OMG they were smoking hot. Must have been escorts.

Yeah, that shit was weird. I'm assuming they were, because surely they wouldn't be with a bloke whose that much of douche. If they were escorts though, they were HQ.

yep a poster above said he seen the houses and they ant all that good but there will be another season. So more scott knob jocks cam amd more selly wanna shoot ya in the face craft.CH9 are winning we are losing.

The guy in the pink suit was the biggest wannabe millionaire ever.. Played a big game yet didn't even bid over 800k.. What a smuck. The girls sooking was quite funny..Seriously saying ''all this for nothing'' what knobs.. And that young couple getting engaged..typical reality tv crap..

Watercress are the production company and they paid $3.6M for the four houses on a total land area of 780sqm. Given they were basically derelict, this reflects a land value of around $4,600psm. This rate psm is idiotic for Richmond and it should be under $3,000 in that location.

They'll sell them eventually, but they will make a big loss on anything over than the product placement and advertising. At the end of it, the bigger sums of money probably make the performance of the properties themselves irrelevant.
Did they also buy the land next door that they used as a dump? That would get them some money back as it looks like they are building something on it (from Near map)

apparently the sisters that sold after the auction only sold for the reserve so they still made no money haha.

I can't see why they are complaining, they'll be cutting ribbons at kindergarten openings and the like in Wagga for the next 5 years.

From the records I have, some development company bought next door (#35). Not sure if that price included 33 as well though.

Certainly some weird things have happened there over recent times. Living in Richmond I can safely say it's not the best location going!

Yeah. I think they're building a few terrace houses on the land that they used to store their machinery.

I watched it with my girlfriend last night as neither of us could stomach the thought of watching two hours of ads interspersed with a bit of The Block.

Thought the vendor for Josh and Jenna killed the mood when that schmuck in the pink suit made that lowball bid. She should've just taken it and got the bidding underway. Think the mood in the room just changed after that and it took until Polly and Waz to get it going again. That vendor was pretty good at prying out some bids and slowly got it up and over reserve.

One of the sisters (think it was Amy) threw a right royal tantrum. Thought it was really weird when their husbands showed up and Katrina was hugging hers and Amy didn't even touch her husband. Bizarre body language.

Those reserve prices have shown how much the Melbourne property markets has softened in three months. IIRC they said they valued it when they bought the derelict properties, before filming started. Guess the owners who sold it to The Block made off like bandits. Read in the paper that the owner bought two of them in 1970s for 24 000 each :D.

All have sold now, which is to be expected.

The lack of auction interest isn't surprising at the minute, due to it being a buyers market. In addition, thinking that the prices might get hyper-inflated, resulting in the market getting even more wary than usual.

Plus, who the hell is in that market and doesn't have furniture? Weird inclusion for a house.

They are all good buys IMV.

Could not agree more.

If my bf ever did anything remotely like that I'd rip his bloody head off.

So tacky- and I bet they're off to the womens mags now with their "story".

Lol, they're already on the covers of the women's mags.

Someone posted this on my facebook in relation to a status regarding the block...
'word on the street the proposal was sponsored by Tiffanys and was all set up so the trash mags could have the story Monday morning for a show filmed on Saturday night but the magazines were printed Friday???'
also she had to say "Tiffanys" 4 times or something as I couldn't understand why she kept saying it during the proposal??? so not as romantic as ***** proposal after all ..

Lol... If you believe that bullshit you will believe anything. Then again it must be true.... it was on facebook

rod and T got about 75k. josh and naga jenna got 50k they prob still have to pay agent/aution costs out of that money.and the sisters made nothing lol:).

I think that's fair.

I reckon the girls (Amy moreso than Katrina) cracked the sads after the auction and sold their house for whatever they could get.

Good to see Rod and Tania get $75 000, a holiday and a car. They were both genuinely happy for Polly and Waz after they won and Rod pretty much built that entire house so good to see reward for effort unlike the girls who spent more time at the hairdressers than on site.

With the amount of product placement in that show I'm afraid nothing would surprise me

I wouldnt under estimate human nature, and their ability to be "bought" either. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

Come to think of it, I recall the ring being from "TIFFANY'S"- was reported in the paper. Why else would they say that?? Why not just "diamond ring".

I'll repeat again- so tacky.
