There is a process if you want to bid on The Block, which they revealed last year when that stupid woman fake bid. IIRC, a potential buyer has to prove they have the money or finance to settle after 90 days, and I believe they have to show bank statements to prove they can pay the 10% deposit after the auction is over. The woman showed fake bank statements and then tried to claim she paid the deposit when she didn't.

Only ever watched the show this year because of Kirsty. Just reading about that reptile from last year. She’s a piece of work.

Lol what? I liked them two, they clearly got the bad 'ahaha check out this dude who isn't a tradie!' edit, they would wipe the floor with two of the five couples this year.
Fascinating. I thought Steve was the laziest person I have seen on the block. Argued with Dave Franklin because he was called out for not doing any work on the communal pool.

It’s funny though that laziness or lying can be excused as “a bad edit” but we don’t also question why all of the houses make a profit each year regardless of judges comments or budget or competency of contestants. It’s a fix. It’s not a free market competition and it’s getting worse each year.

I question what value the judges opinions have. Ronnie and Georgia faraway judges winners, Josh and Luke faraway losers as were Tanya and Vito, yet both beat them comfortably auction day.

The judges also regularly smashed Mitch and Mark, yet they won comfortably.
Dude. It’s a fix up. “Registered buyers”. Always the same 3 buyers advocates and Danny. In a free market auction it would not be near these prices.

Let’s not forget:

i dont think they are upset about what they got per se (or what the others got), but what they missed out on by doing the auction in the wrong order. Clearly they left another $200k-$300k on the table by incorrectly choosing to go first in the auction. To me its come from the fact they f’ed up and its cost them dearly.
They wouldn’t have got any more whatever order it was in. Danny felt sorry for the other contestants and pumped up the prices. Danny already knows they’re doing well financially. Look at house five, they would have walked away with nothing if Danny wasn’t pumping up the bids by $100K at a time. Vetos has already been given to charity. Don’t know how anyone can take this show seriously.

Steve was the only person from the block there to work on the communal area while the others went to do something else, he didn't do any work because he had to project manage and furnish the whole thing IIRC. I think he mad a good point. Dave might think less of him because he didn't start hammering in some nails, but that's what the trades are paid for. Not to go out and shop for outdoor settings.

I honestly cgaf how set up, scripted ( hai FRUMPY ), real, not real, manipulated, this that and the other it is.

Trust me, I dont lose any sleep over a show like The Block.

Just enjoy it for what it is, and in particular the banter + discussion itt.

Interesting the uproar thats circulating around now regarding judging and their ineffectiveness.

I guess it comes down to are they judging what's on trend or what is going to get the biggest result on auction day. This is probably a tough line to draw because the Sunday reveals still need to be hard hitting and audience grabbing. There's clearly some things done in certain rooms for shock & awe that wouldn't be financially savvy - and without those things the house might have still sold for what it sold for - ie; Ironman.

I don't really mind the current judging panel but even then, I probably agree that for the sake of freshening things up, as they did with the idea to move out to the country where they're going next year and akin to Masterchef (although that was more driven by negotiations of the current hosts rather than a desire to have a new look (maybe with the exception of George)). As for Scotty, not sure. I can see why people think he's arrogant because he's there as a front rather than an actual decision maker.

Perhaps they need to go with a new look judging panel that still includes someone renowned for interior style, go back to a well known real estate agent as they had with John McGrath back in the days who can offer input in terms of saleworthiness etc.

I think you are remembering it wrongly. Steve did next to nothing whilst the other couples did the majority of the work. The trades are there to hammer some nails, not all of them.Steve is not there to only buy cushions

the furthest thing from reality is reality tv but it is what it is. Ive said previously, i watch Sunday and Monday as they are more about the houses and the other days i rarely watch as its just rubbish tv and nothing to do with the build. It has gotten further from a renovation show every year and contestants are basically night time painters and mcdonalds coffee drinkers and sponsor product salespeople during the day.

Oh man... there is a big difference between product placement/endorsement and infomercial.

And i swear if they go down the latter route more often- I'm done. I'll be a Sunday night viewer, and that is it.

You hope they removed the brand stickers on the sky lights before viewing days

Well well well... looks like RnG's amazing plain old white tin shed wasn't so great after all.

All jokes aside, the way they carried on after winning 300k sums them up. Very ungrateful and me me me attitude. How's The Block producers trying to pain them as Saints. Pls.

Why on God's earth would you put yourself up first in the auction order. Bizarre and very arrogant decision making.

The Jordan Petersen book was a dead giveaway.

She reminds me of that Samantha Azzopardi weirdo.

The show ended 2 days ago and everyone is still talking about it. That to me is successful TV.

I reckon there's a couple ways you can measure if a reality show is successful or not.

Ratings, general chatter and if it makes news.com

If you don't make it into news.com you know you got a srs problem.
