I remember a regular poster from previous seasons (who didn't post this year for some reason) who also knew tradies who worked on The Block after it was finished to fix those places up for auction.

Also get a fair few tools ‘free’. Had to use the sponsors product & there was a large cache of them meant to be signed in and out.
Lots went walkies….

Did manpower Durie used to be the host as well?

Jamie Dury was the host for the first two seasons (2003 & 2004). Then they stopped making the show. C9 revived the show in 2010 with Scott Cam as host.

Yeah it was a bit of a flippant comment mate I seriously doubt he's still on the tools digging holes to plant trees.

But he'd probably show Dave Franklin up.

I thought Jamie Dury got some fame over in the USA and lives there now. I think he used to appear on Oprah in a gardening segment for a few years. Have no idea what he's doing these days. He's probably near 50 now so I don't picture him doing grunt work anymore.
He hosts House Rules lol

Yes, he did co-host House rules in 2020 with Abbey Gelmi, sorry I just did a bit more research so my initial post was wrong. They are bringing this show back next year (according to Google) as Apartment Rules, and apparently, C7 is rebooting MKR too in 2022.

Edit.

Jesus, so much vitriol in the comments sections about the people who watch The Block and other shows like it.

Typical rude campaigners. I'm sure they're all reading authors like Shakespeare and Chekhov, etc on a nightly basis instead of watching anything like this. :rolleyesv1:

I listened to M&M's podcast and it was pretty good. Julian Cress puts a lot of that bullshit talk that the show is all fixed and scripted to bed nicely. He did say they do edit the show to tell the story they want (and not what the contestants want), but what actually happens during the build is all spontaneous (except for the infomercials obviously). They just work with what they've got.

Cress also said their selection criteria for couples is pretty strict and they usually go for people who have been in long-term close relationships as opposed to say just two friends who want to team up. He said the rationale is The Block creates so much pressure on relationships that it's better to have people whose relationships won't disintegrate because of it. He said they have had friends on a few seasons but it's not common. He also said that people newly married aren't selected these days for this reason too. He's seen a few breakups after the shows in these cases.

Hour of Kirsty on Foxtel 805 at the moment (just started) Ripping cover of Brittney’s ‘Hit Me Baby’ to kick off proceedings.
