I don't disagree with you. At all. But as you say, all of them are dodgy - the tag just sticks to some more readily than others I think.

It is bonkers how much people pay for these houses despite all the defects that you can see on tv.

Does anyone know what the rectification process is between the end of the show and auction? I watched the first couple of Jamie Durie seasons when it it was a completely different show, but this is only my 2nd season back with the Block, so I don't know what that process is, either in terms of what they say happens, nor in terms of what actually happens.
To be fair the building industry is woeful in itself so it’s not just a Block phenomenon…the whole building industry thrives on shortcuts and defects not being noticed by the customers even long after a build/Reno

That's true. It's what Dan was trying to say to Oz about his mudroom, that covering mistakes is poor tradesmanship and decreases the life of the build overall. There are so many cowboy builders out there it isn't funny.

inspectors or whoever they are who approve the dodgy work are the real culprits. Would have to be getting some extra money to pass some of the shit they pass

Easy money for the inspectors to walk through and say they can’t see any problems

In a house build even having a private inspector won’t help much as you have no power in the contract to make the builders follow up on their advice you can only try to rectify issue durring handover and you can really resolve structural issues by then as it’s too late

It’s a big mess

ChippieTimber posting again on insta about how they were working back late during this weeks episodes.....his last line - 'if only we werent so lazy' 🤣

fair to say, he isnt happy with the way they have been talked about by the contestants they built for
Not just S&A dumb campaigner Scotty keeps harping that they been let down by their builders

$53,000 in the red at House 3. What a joke.

I don't find it surprising, as I suspect anyone watching the show.

I also don't find it surprising that when Scotty tells them the news, they immediately crack a big sook and call it aggressive and lacking empathy. These two are snowflakes of the highest order. Playing the victim when it's clear you've done something very wrong is the sign of a couple of gaslighters.

I do think the show bears some responsibility for this too. It's not just S&A's fault. But these two might be the worst contestants I've ever seen on the show.

Easily the worst contestants ever.

Sad thing is for all their incompetence , sooking and appalling behaviour S&A will potentially make a lot of money

I can’t stand them

The worry for me and we have seen it before with other teams that have struggled and had the judges not like their work , they could win, which would be a shithouse result.

And it is the bigger house too it’s a real possibility…it’ll be cringe worthy when they shower everyone with love when they win

In Ankurs defence he wouldn't have any idea what the trades would be totalling up to at the end. But jeez some demonstrated budgeting wouldn't kill them. I'm shocked he doesnt have a killer spread sheet for the budget work.

They mentioned last week they can't work like the boys holding pricing to account on tradies. Which sounds like how they have gotten their trade spend low. Plus they are probably getting family to work at 50 an hour no matter the time of day.

If he were doing it properly, he'd have quotes before the work starts, so he should know what he will be charged and be able to budget accordingly or haggle prices down some. He's a bloody hopeless accountant. You don't need bulding experience to know how these things work. It's common sense.

"It's a bit of a kick in the face to me, I've asked them and I've told them and I've said, 'You've got to watch your money'. We've had meeting after meeting up there [Ankur & Sharon's house], going 'I'm really worried about your budget' and they just even take that into consideration obviously because they kept going," he [Scotty] said.

They had meeting after meeting with S&A about their budget and they just didn't listen and kept spending money they didn't have. What a couple of malakas.
