Oh wow throwing it back on the landscaper to do the job under the quote provided
No, they didn't.

The Landscaper sent a bill that was $26,000 over the quote he gave. Keith & Dan asked him to charge only what he quoted for the whole job or else leave there and then because they couldn't pay him the extra $26,000. Yeah, they put him on the spot on camera. That was a bit of a low act, I agree, but that landscaper was trying to stiff S&A, probably just like all the other trades. This is why you get written quotes from these people. So they don't pull this kind of dodgy crap. All that was on the Landscaper.

God it shits me watching tradies getting squeezed and screwed on pay when the contestants are likely to all walk away with hundreds of thousand of dollars.

That said, without knowing the reserves, s&a might struggle to sell, I thought their house really fell away over the last few weeks.

It shits me when trades put in a quote and then try to stiff you by sending a bill that's way over without discussing it with you during the build. That's the responsibility of the trade to inform the owners if they cannot meet the original quote and negotiate new terms. I don't think S&A was in the wrong this time. I think their landscaper was acting very dodgy on this one.

Someone who buys this isn't going to own a helicopter ffs.

These places are worth $5 mill, not $20 mill. How many people do they think own helicopters?

Put in something that appeals to everyone, not the 0.0001% of the population that own choppers. Or better yet, don’t spend money you don’t have.

I’ve always liked Inga but thought she was a bit harsh on Jenny. Don’t know whether she actually discussed the fence with her or not, but telling the client “I don’t want a glass fence” is a bit off, you are there to fulfill their vision, not your own.

It could very well be that S&A chucked in a few extra requests thinking they were in the clear budget wise , hence the silly last minute request over the helipad where you’re better off throwing that extra money …which they didn’t have …straight into the tradies and the landscapping they have already planned out

I find it hard to believe S&A thought they were getting the $90k. They were not shown celebrating on Sunday when the budget was announced, and it cut to them saying absolutely nothing and Sharon looking like the miserable cant she is.

And why would they not as Scotty first to confirm how much money they actually have? These people are ****ing idiots.

Client pays. Worker works. That's how it should be.

Yeah I've thought from the beginning that a helicopterpad is a ridiculous idea. Money that could be better spent somewhere else

Does anyone else think that vineyard is a massive waste of the land? The upkeep and maintenance will be ridiculous

If I brought that house I would raze it down so it’s amusing watching her crow about how it’s a brilliant idea and doing everything she can to promote it

Yeah Sharon went on a spiel about that a couple weeks ago, her dad owns a vineyard or something.

Takes a good 4-7 years for a vineyard to become mature , and in the Gisborne region I’m unsure if it’s the right environment for a successful one …90% of vineyards are a money pit that produces nothing you need the infrastructure which that property doesn’t have to be breaking even at best with it

The only extra thing they were trying to get was the dumb helicopter pad idea. They mentioned during the episode that their landscaping had already been pared back due to their budget issues, so why send a bill that's $26,000 over the original quote without even discussing it with S&A. You can think what you want, but to me, that landscaper was trying to pull a swifty.

Heard a decent rumour about the 'legendary' landscaper Dave Franklin.

Apparently a very dodgy bloke, he would find it very hard to get an account at any supplier as has been blacklisted at quite a few major landscaping suppliers and mitre 10s due to not paying his bills. Apparently has a connection on the block and that is how he gets a gig but is a prick of a bloke and dodgy as all get out.

For me if this was my house, I'd go with a pool, spa, tennis court, veggie garden + a small stable for a couple of horses maybe.

Hard no to a basketball court, vineyard or a tiny house. And lol at the helipad.

I don't get the tiny house, when you have just built a big house, game changer money wasted right there.

Thought exactly the same, and his reaction when Dan & Keith called him out on it confirmed to me it was shifty, you would have to wonder if he had spoken to other trades on this house, and realized they were not doing any checks or balances as they are pretty much hopeless.

What is the plan for it? Airbnb?

At least H1’s hobbit hut is in front of the dam, you could chill down there, wet a line, hang around a fire pit. H4’s is just in the middle of the paddock.

SJ’s reaction to H5 not being finished was pretty cold. You’ve had the benefit of getting everything done first, the whole way along. If you can’t even acknowledge that...
