Another thing that's starting to shit me is that Danny and Adrian basically decide the winner of the Block each series now and its got really nothing to do with the design, build or styling of the houses, the two that profitted/won were just the most appealing to be raffled off.

As far as Danny and Adrian go, Frank is getting past his used by date to… “is it on the market?“ seems to be his opening bid now. And what ever happened to Greville and the Brunette lady? Sick of never landing a sale anymore?
Frank is a buyers agent, he can't really do much outside of his clients budget.

Really he's got no chance when you have Portelli bidding against himself and adding $1mil to the price point for no necessary reason other than a flex or for marketing purposes.

Agree wholeheartedly

So we tink Lumbo guy taking things out of the house.
And going another raffle..?

In all the commentary I've seen today, no one is talking about the shitty press that Portelli has had recently.

He wouldn't have the nerve to strip the house given the heat on him at the moment. He's made sure the audience faves won, he'll raffle it off, and if he loses money he'll probably still consider the reputational benefit a win... and clearly there is a reputational benefit when I go to reddit and see people speaking about him as the messiah who ensured justice

Explain to me how he makes money stripping the houses?

Beyond the terrible spelling mistakes, the couple confirm that they won because:

They selected an auctioneer who riffed off two cashed up people not interested in the house aside from the fame they get from it
Selected a real estate agency that is out of area.. unsure what this was all about

And not because:

Danny wanted to open the bidding well above reserve
Adrian wanted to prove he's not a one year wonder

Solid, solid.

From what I have read they take some items out of the houses but leave the normal furnishings as per the T and Cs..

The furore started After a couple won a 4 million dollar house from the last block and complained they took out stuff like wine fridges. So get 4 million in house but cry about a fridge worth let's say 50k.

In fairness to him, if he ponies up the cash to buy them, he can do whatever the hell he pleases.

Especially in the case of the house he paid $1m more than he needed to for it.
The issue is he doesn't strip them until after he's done all the marketing for the raffle so those entering are given an inaccurate vision of what is being raffled.

It's be a bit like selling a car with pictures of it with all the extras and then when the buyer comes to pick it up the stereo system has been ripped out and it's on steel rims and the spare tyre and jack are missing etc.

Raffles the houses but either sells off or raffles a lot of the no fixed furnishings separately.

Would add quite a few bucks to the bottom line of the raffles.

'Whatever I do with these items is up to me. Wherever I want to use them personally or I want to use them to stage future giveaway houses, who bloody cares,' Portelli said.

So he's kept the items in the first house to help staging and sell tickets and admit he may do it again, then removes them.

It may not be illegal, but it's sketchy from a guy who doesn't need the extra buck. One could probably argue it's pretty poor false marketing and many buying tickets would have the fair assumption what's included in the marketing is included in the prize.

Yeah it may (may) not be illegal but its sketchy as hell.

Plus it's been revealed elsewhere that he never technically owned the property so didn't have to pay stamp-duty or capital gains when he transferred it to the raffle winner. If that's the deal he's done with Block producers (for favourable tax treatment) then shouldn't taking stuff from the property amount to theft?

Is Hampton a good suburb?

The Hamptons .
Let's go to the Hamptons.

make it stop road trip GIF

Agree with you here the prices weren't a reflection of the real market because it was a passing contest between rich people.
