Carl Dilena lol!! Young lad from Sturt in the SANFL. One of my earliest football memories, if not my earliest was a Port v Sturt game at Footy Park in 1988. Sturt won by a point. Carl Dilena got shirtfronted and knocked out three times!! Couldnt believe it. Russel Johnston got him first and ended up being suspended for 5 games and missed our grand final (Johnston - best captain and bloke anyone could meet) then Bruce Abernathy got him, then David Hynes got him from memory. He was in the wars that day

Fairly sure Trent Cummings had a season with the Eagles but only played one or two games and ended up delisted/retired.

Mobbenfuhrer, what about the one and only Marty Warry, and his sparring partner Brad Cassidy, others Dilena went to North then VFA, Troubles Payne to Richmond then Box Hill, Peter (Num Num) Bird to Subiaco still there last time I talked to him.
Question: Jamie Lamb or Jamie Bond (ex Maryborough).
Trent Cummings Great Grand son of the first Aboriginal to play league footy Bert Johnson ex Fitzroy played in two flag sides.

I always thought that Doug Nicholls was the first or one of the first aboriginal players.

Bert Johnson played in Fitzroy Flag sides in 1904-05 and in the runners up in 1906 not bad he only played 3 seasons about 44 games all told from memory, he then went to Northcote to coach a young bloke named Doug Nichols.

Levo

Was he also known as Joe Johnson?

Right on Fred at Fitzroy it was Bert in the first Game then Joe from then on and also at Northcote it was Joe, in the 1906 photo it's Bert, no one knows why do you, even Cummo didn't.

Great article in the Australian magazine (July1-2 2000) about Joe Johnson & family. This is the only family anyone knows of with 4 generations of VFL/AFL footballers.
Joe Johnson played for Fitzroy.
Joe's son, Percy played for North.
Joe's grandson, Percy played for Hawthorn.
Joe's great-grandsons, Trent & Robert Cummings both played for Fitzroy.

Robert Cummings came to Fitzroy via Hawthorn & Trent Cummings, as has been stated above, finished his career with West Coast.

Why isn't this family famous?
