First chance to have a good look at the bombers on the weekend. Had noted in the media that that the bombers had perfected "the quick give".

Yeah that's because they throw the thing and the umps don't pay.

Is this another one where Sheeds has found the limit you cann go before Umps will pay a free?

Has everyone else noticed the bomber Chuck?

Should Lloydy's nickname be Chuck or Fall?

Noticed it in anbundance on the weekend Don. Its a bit like the infamous 'Crow throw' perfected by the Graham Cornes coached Crows teams of the early 90's.

Like I have said before - a total blot on the game and should be stamped out immediately.

I agree BA. I thought the Crow Throw was invented nearly 10 years ago. But then these Bomber supporters think nothing is new until Sheeds tries it.

More Bomber bashing I see. Grow up.

I've seen every game this year and I havn't noticed anything abnormal.

Try to beat Essendon playing FOOTBALL everyone. Don't use the poor umpires as an excuse.

The only chuck I know is what I do when I read the carping on regards anything Essendon. Even if you take all of Lloyds free kicks away he still has over 40 goals , now we handball too quick What next??? so blody sorry for winning. One point loss is bad luck to the whingers sides but Essendon oh no??? a choke. BA see scwass's effort on sunday a logie for sure!!!!! beat us then whinge.

Couldn't agree more Razza.

If any other team loses a close one, it is an "honourable loss", or an "unlucky" loss.

But not for the Bombers apparently. No, for us, a one-point loss constitutes a choke, despite the fact we had obviously played well enough to get within a point.

Forget all those teams that lost by big margins and "choked" (i.e not performed). Apparently that doesn't count.

Lloyd is a champion player. And like most top players, everything he does is over-scrutinised.

All this free kick nonsense is making a mountain out of a molehill.

re the chucking:

typical crap. ALthough since the Adelaide game ive noticed what a good deal we get from the umps nowadays (like north used to get last year)

I wanted to talk about Paul Roos, and Locketts apalling comentary.

Two particular gems included (from Roos once the rain came):
"I think the rain will suit Sydney because Essendon is a very skillful side- ....well I think the rain wont bother the Swans"

did you watch us in Brisbane roosy. Do you do any research at all ???

PLugger after our third goal-
"If the swans hadnt made silly turnovers resulting in two goals, and Lloyd hadnt got that iffy free (looked like a good mark to me- A) then thats 3 goals the bombers really shouldnt have got". yeah plugger- see longy's work to help get the first for us- yeah lucky- NOT.

I mean I respected these guys as players but as commentators its like they only watch sydney games each week and have no idea about the opposition side at all.

Was also funny hearing plugger say he tried to rev up the sydney boys pre-game by telling them about what Keiran Perkins "done" in 1996.

guys who played footy arnt instantly good commenatators just because of that fact. Channel 7 should learn this.
(and if mainwaring commentates this saturday- im gonna puke).

BOMBERS REIGN SUPREME.

Good point Arch

I am sick of people saying that just because you didn't play the game at the highest level, you can't write or commentate footy.

You only have to look at the standard of the bulk of Channel 7's special comments men to see that playing the game doesn't necessary make good commentators.

Speaking about the bomber 'chuck', thats exactly what I will be doing when Plugger commentates our game against the swans in a few weeks.

Nathan Burke, Stewart Loewe and Robert Harvey - All current and LOYAL champions of the St Kilda Football Club and will be worthy members of the 300 club. It is a shame, Plugger was my hero growing up in the 80s supporting a team that lost every single week.

Yes, I realise it is very petty to hold a grudge against someone that played for your club for 12 years. That's just how I feel.

Glad you noticed it BSA, yeah it happened all the time, interesting to see if the umpires start paying more against them now its been pointed out in the media.

In one passage they did it 3 times but disguise it by throwing their hands sideways after they release the ball rather than the follow through motion that usually gives it away.

They did go after the crow throw eventually.

Agreed Sainter,

Why is there this 'thing' in the media, that if you didn't play footy at the highest level, you can't make special comments on it.

It's people like us who watch more than 1 side every week (on TV) that should be given a chance, not the washed up footballer who can't put 2 words together (Hawkins, Dipper, Shaw and to a lesser extent McGuane - who confused everybody simply because he refused to breath when he spoke!) and needs the money because he didn't plan for life after footy when he was playing it.

Washed up footballers probably know less than the average supporter, they only know about their own team not about the competition as a whole.

Anthony Hudson is the only young commentator at 7, and they don't give him a chance, being the co-boundary rider on Friday's and calling games with the least interest on the weekend. At least he's enthusiastic.

Give us a go, old footballers don't have a clue.

I definitely endorse this! I would love to be given the opportunity to play commentator for a day. A few of the fans definitely could not be any worse than the majority of the TV commentators.

The mistake is the belief that TV football coverage needs any more than 2 commentators.

Don,
If Sunday's game was the first time you have had a look at the bombers this season, may I suggest you watch them thump the Eagles this week because the Sydney game was a shocker. I think you will agree that they don't need to throw to win this comp.

The Essendon players do have 'quick hands' and have been know to 'throw' on occassions. But then again...it is up to the umpires to officiate by positioning themsleves correctly. If they can get away with it, that's well and good.

I do remember Hird getting pinged for a throw that was definitely NOT a throw against Richmond. I also remember it costing us a goal.

Hird is too quick for the untrained eye :D

Throwing or chucking the ball is not new to Essendon. Throwing the ball was part of their repertoire last year - in fact, Essendon topped the official list of 'throwers' last year, something I made mention of and was howled down.

Essendon supporters - Dan25. Todon etc, should stop crying 'tall poppy syndrome' as a throw is illegal and as such a free should be paid against the team. I watched Essendon last year and couldn't believe how many time they were able to get away for throwing.

Having said that, IMO, Essendon are not the only culprits this year (more than likely, only the one not to get pinged) and maybe a tightening of the rule or a rule change is in order.

And watched with such objectivity I'm sure....

P.S. what'd you think of Colbert's bump on the weekend? Nothing in that eh? Noooooo.
