The events that were perpetrated at Bondi Beach during the Jewish Hannukah Festival are nothing short of an atrocity perpetrated by radicalised pro Palestinian terrorists. As I post the death toll has risen to 16 which is a tragic number.

Regardless as to how we may feel about the Israeli actions in Gaza there is no justification for an attack on unarmed Australians. Like many I hold the view that the Israeli response to October 22 has been excessive but that does not justify this atrocity.

The danger in this is that it may launch reprisals like the Christchurch massacre which was equally indefensible. I expect that this will launch a wave of Islamophobia and that pro Palestinian street marches and Mosques will need heightened security.

A bravery award should be given to the man in the white tee shirt who tackled and disarmed one of the terrorist gunmen. Questions should be asked and answers given as to how these people got the weapons and most importantly how were they radicalised?

There can be no justification for such a barbaric act.

It's been confirmed that the shooters were father and son, and that the father was licenced to possess 6 guns of some description.

Still working through if/which of those were used.

Which is baffling considering ASIO were familiar with the son's identity, although not in terms of being a current threat.

Where did you pull this shit from raptailia?

The son was investigated by ASIO over links to an Islamic State cell back in 2015.

So you think it was pure coincidence that these guys picked a Jewish festival to fire upon? In any case I am not interesting in debating the issue as it is an atrocity regardless of the motive.

Anthony Albanese has just foreshadowed a tightening of gun control laws to limit the number of firearms owned by shooters. Apparently the older shooter was a member of a gun club. I am not sure what type of firearms were used.

So why are you bringing in unrelated bullshit over the fact that a pair of Pakistani Muslims attacked a Jewish event? What about it has anything to do with Palestine?

Because the Ummah demanded it. If Salafs/Wahabs are called to action, then they do it. Regardless of their racial heritage. It's the same thing when Hezbollah captured Chechen ISIS fighters in Syria back in the day.

Thanks for that.

A shotgun, and a .308 bolt action with a scope if I recall correctly. I'm not reading the news any more at this point. It's way too grim.

Benjamin Netanyahu has no problem linking the Bondi shootings with Palestine. He lays the cause of the Bondi shooting at the feet of the Australian Government for it's recognition Palestine.

If you think that these two shooters had no link to Hamas because they were Pakistani in origin maybe you should do some research? The Pakistani Government openly supports Hamas and back in April that country's largest political party called for the establishment of a Hamas office in Pakistan. They organised a nationwide strike and called Pakistani to action against Israel.

Of course he does. Most people though are smart enough to take anything the war criminal says with a giant pile of salt.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Imams and scholars who have considerable influence in their respective countries, and they've all called for Jihad against Israel. The Qatar based IUMS (International Union of Muslims Scholars) is a classic example of this. The Ummah, the deen is goes beyond international borders. Again, this is why you had so many foreign fighters in Syria, Iraq and Libya during the Arab Spring. Salafist and Wahabi movements were recruiting men from all over to assist in toppling those countries.

Has Netanyahu thanked the Syrian immigrant who took down one of his Arab friends? A guy who was just helping out other humans for humans sake?

Netanyahu's attempt to blame the Australian government for the Bondi Terrorist Attack was cheap politics at its worst, he is a war monger whose honesty (or the lack of it) has been questioned in his own country!

The relevant authorities will hopefully be able to find out from the surviving terrorist the reason for the senseless murders of innocent Australian jews by an evil father/son pair of radicalised lunatics, and if they can I suspect it's more likely to have been in retaliation to Israel's destruction of Gaza and had no connection to Australia's recognition of Palestine.

Josh Freydenberg laying the blame for the Bondi atrocity at the feet of the Albanese Government. Freydenberg wants the Government to do more to combat antisemitism but the question for Josh is, what did you do during your twelve years in office?

I wonder if those people who booed the Australian Prime Minister would boo the Prime Minister of Israel if he was able to attend the Bondi rally? Of course Netanyahu ia an alleged war criminal and could not come to Bondi as he would be arrested on an outstanding ICC warrant.

The Jewish community should realise that booing Anthony Albanese is divisive and plays into the hands of the terrorists. Much better to do what the New Zealanders did in the wake of the Christchurch massacre and come together.

I suspect many Australian jews aren't great fans of Netanyahu and Israel's ethnic cleansing of Gaza or the aftermath of it which could cause problems for those living peacefully in other countries as well as here, and it's possible some could view those atrocities as being a potential catalyst for the Bondi terrorist attack!

I too believe it would be much better for the community to come together ala `the New Zealanders in the wake of the Christchurch massacre' than getting involved in booing Anthony Albanese, which as you suggest `is divisive' and has the potential to be exploited by other terrorists.

Reckon the libs should try being a credible opposition instead of focusing on cooker vote and being evil campaigners.

Albo sucks and they're basically lib lite, but without the evil element of the far right of LNP cookers

The Libs are pushing for a Royal Commission into the Bondi Massacre.

What will that achieve that the already announced enquiry into ASIO will not achieve? Millions of dollars of taxpayer money spent on a set of findings that recommend reforms to ASIO and greater gun control. NSW has already moved to tighten it's gun laws but there is more to do. I am not a great fan of the Australian Greens but they have proposed a raft of changes to Federal gun laws which the Albanese Government would do well to consider and the Libs would do well to support.
The Green proposals are-
  • Rapid implementation of the National Firearms Register
  • Strict limits on the number of firearms people can own with a maximum of three, except in exceptional circumstances
  • Prohibitions on accessing high-powered hunting rifles unless clear pressing need is established
  • A fresh national buy-back scheme to remove high powered and excess firearms from the community
  • Strict prohibitions on rapid-fire firearms including the Adler A 110 lever action shotgun and similar weapons
  • Time limited gun licences with ongoing character checks for all gun owners
  • Removal of recreational hunting as a “genuine reason” for a firearm licence

Susan Ley is desperately trying to deflect flak by pinning a terrorist atrocity at the feet of the Albanese Government.
Ley's response and her willingness to play divisive politics shows the influence of Australian Jewry within the Liberal party.

The best part of royal commissions is when after spending millions on them, the government of the day decides they're going to completely ignore the recommendations anyway. It doesn't matter of course, because whatever prompted the royal commission in the first place has slipped out of the public eye, so the findings get handed down and no one really notices.
