Fyfe gives no effort defensively.
Ball watches.
Then when in possession kicks flour bags or gets caught holding the ball.
Meanwhile we have will Brodie getting massive numbers week after week.

I’m a Fyfe fan and I think so far this year he has added to the team, but I can’t disagree with your comments. When he is in tight in the contest he can apply pressure and tackle but once the ball gets remotely outside or is transitioning to outside, opponents just walk around him. He just seems to lack any confidence in his kicking and his ability to fly for marks. I’ve watched a lot of Peel games this year and Brodie has clearly improved his disposal and run and made himself more damaging. I’m torn about dropping Fyfe as in many games he has definitely contributed, but I would love to somehow give Brodie 3-4 games to see what he can do.

Aish was absolutely horrific yesterday. He’s an untouchable in the team and I just can’t see why. At 29 years old with nearly 200 games he should be at the peak of his powers, but regularly turns in games where he is complete trash. There was two moments in particular that summed him up yesterday - the second goal Sturt got where he actually fumbled an easy ball to win and it still (luckily) broke to Treacy and we managed to transition it to Sturt despite Aish piss weak effort.
Then in the third, right near me at the ground just inside our own 50 near the boundary he comes out and squibs a ball that should have been an easy win, and Treloar I think it was took it off him like candy from a baby and centred it to JUH who marked and goaled. How can you build a champion team around senior players like this?

There have been many more examples of efforts like this, especially in games we have lost this year. When the tide is against us he is utterly useless. His kicking is poor, at best, with plenty of helicopter type flourbags. I could deal with that if there was a minimum level of intent and viciousness in his play. But there isn’t. it’s the lack of intensity in a defensive role that drives me nuts however, especially for what should be a mature and experienced leader of the group.
Collingwood and Brisbane both got rid of this guy pretty quickly because they knew despite the Outside noise and status as a top 10 pick that he would not take them where they needed to get to. Being serious perennial top 4 contenders and prelim finalists. Both of those teams were proven 100% right in hindsight.
Of course there is plenty on here who will disagree. I’ve even seen people questioning whether Liam Baker would get a game ahead of Aish! WTF 😂😂
Don’t even insult baker by comparing him to Aish. There should be bans in place for anyone making such silly comparisons.

Of course he won’t dropped ever. He will play another 100 games of minimal consequence for freo and probably be in our top 30 or 40 most appearances ever by the end of his career but mark my words he will not ever be a difference maker in a big game of real consequence in finals.

I enjoy the guys doing the Purple Reign pod and solidly agree with Oz paraphrasing and sharing Gary Lyon's sentiment here. In a nutshell Lyon stated that we are a team that consistently falls short when the big games come up and the spotlight is on us - winning such games is a standard that we need to set - that is the the next step in our club's evolution.

Well I think someone like Freddy does need to get more than 5 or 6 touches a game. The one goal I can probably deal with but that's way below average, even for a player like him who seems to drift out of games for long periods at a time.

Freddy had two goal assists, 4 score involvements and a goal so from that perspective he did ok and I’m not dropping a guy like him. But yesterday he had 3 kicks and 33% kicking efficiency, so the only effective kick he had was the goal he kicked….not good enough.

I’m sorry but this is just not true. Neither Brisbane nor Collingwood wanted to get rid of him. I’m pretty sure everyone remembers the exodus from Brisbane when they couldn’t keep a young player to save themselves and Collingwood’s fire sale is also well documented, they had to get rid of several players due to salary cap.

Criticise him all you want on his performance and you’re of course entitled to that but let’s not rewrite history here just to lay it on thick to support your opinion.

You have two guys dominating at Peel who won’t get picked?
It’s obvious that Fyfe needs to be rested at times, and even Brayshaw should
be dropped for a week.
But there is zero accountability and even when Darcy was out Reidy wasn’t even an
Option.
The forward line is still a revolving door, one minute it is Emmett then Sturt.
Not one of the mids is a forward/mid, and it’s only because Walters is injured that
it’s probably back to Banfield the forward.
Jlo should send a message and reward players in form, it doesn’t bode well once
Fyfe and Walters retire.
To say Jlo needs Worner is an understatement, without that Messiah trade he has
nothing left up his sleeve.

Whatever about brisbane there is no doubt Collingwood pushed him out.
They looked at the list in that 2018 trade period and said “who is dispensable here, who can we do without” and sent Aish to us for an F2. The salary cap issues at the pies didn’t come into play until after that when they signed up Grundy for 7 years on big money.

So much of the reasons given for our inconsistencies are the fact we are a young team, we don’t have the hardened experience of multiple preseasons in enough players yet, we can’t expect consitiency in the weekly grind of AFL footy from young bodies.
None of those reasons apply to Aish. Or JOM either (who is an even bigger liability than Aish). Aish was drafted 11 years ago, JOM 12 years ago. What the hell are then, as AFL players? They represent nothing in my opinion. Drifting though the latter stages of their careers hiding under the cover of a supposed young inconsistent side, when that is something they should never ever be as individual players. Regularly amongst the worst on ground when we have a bad week yet undroppable as 29 and 30 year olds. It’s bullshit.

Posters here putting the boot into Worner and Draper and Walker - kids by comparisons to those seasoned pros.
It’s just not acceptable for Aish and JOM to show up after the bye over 10 years into their afl careers and be so individually awful.

I still think our inability to mentally meet expectations had a decent part in our loss yesterday, but also our execution was terrible. We had 11 players with 50% or less kicking efficiency (the worst AB with 22%) while the dogs had only 4. Is this because the Dogs pressure was so much better than ours? I haven’t got the stats, but we entered this game rated 15th in the league for pressure rating. As some others have mentioned is our low pressure rating because of the way we set up or players lack of want. I suspect a bit of both but mostly the former. JLo and the team need to find a way to up our pressure without giving up the things we do well.

Aish was a wet lettuce leaf. Even Sturt was putting his body on the line far more than Aish. He was useless. Same with JOM. Plenty others too.
Aish cares more about looking cool and being as accessorised as possible.

Pretty average player, never has a good game in a losing team.

Aish has been an underrated acquisition. Last season was playing midfield and he was pretty solid. Think his strength is attacking. He’s sacrificing his game to be in defensive half.

I really don’t think it was even the dogs pressure that caused our poor kicks. Walker was directly turning it over with no pressure at all, as were many others. Players couldn’t even execute simple handballs and almost missed the ball all together at some points

Brayshaw’s an interesting case; I remember at the start of last season he had an illness of some sort and then hasn’t seemed the same player; could he have long COVID or some sort of post-viral thing perhaps? I know they said knee, but it just doesn’t seem like that sort of thing

Think with Brayshaw what really sets him apart is his defensive and gut running. But yesterday that was lacking. There was one footage they showed where he couldn't be fcked tackling which is unlike him

We are a no excuses football club which is just as well because nothing can excuse a 159 point turnaround from one game of football to another. Is that some sort of a record? It's not like one week we played the bottom of the table and the next week the top.

The best summary I've heard is that somehow we've got to learn to not s**t the bed in the big moments. A key skill if we're going to win a premiership one would think. LFG.

My Lord, this board has seen some highs and lows this week.

I'm not that worried that we lost as we were due to drop one in Melbourne, but the way we lost and the final margin is concerning. Especially considering most of our scores came during periods where key Dogs' prime movers were resting.

I absolutely hate this excuse for poor performances. I see it every time after a big loss. We were lazy, reactive and outcoached against a vulnerable Dogs side. Don't sugar coat it.
Would you accept a virus swept through the club? A plague of locusts…….?
All right we were shit.🤦🏻‍♂️

???

Its not an excuse. I said we were arrogant and lazy. What more do you want???

He runs... that's it. no point running fast and splitting the ground when his disposal is rubbish.

Small / medium defenders need nous to excel and he just does not get the game.

Everyone in the backline had a shocker, even Lukey looked silly and Clarky did nowt.

Pearce is not a captain.
Got serious doubts about you, pal.
