One thing that I've noticed this series, Boba appears noticably weaker in the fight scenes so far (relative to his appearance in The Mandalorian). He seemed to be taken down pretty easily in that ambush in the first episode, needing to get back to the bacta chamber (Fennec was the difference in that fight). He was ragdolled around by Krrsantan during that fight which I guess can be largely attributed to the element of surprise and yes he didn't have his armour either. As yet though we haven't really seen him in the present day scenes do anything similar to The Mandalorian, which in terms of timeline would've been in the previous weeks prior to this show commencing.

And just on the Krrsantan fight, having rewatched it again it seems very out of place that he's punched in the face (with no helmet) by that knuckle duster contraption (which perhaps would fracture a cheekbone or something?), then caught in the bear/wookie hug of death, bones are heard cracking, hand is bitten, and then a minute later just casually reappears, puts his robe on and then enjoys a banquet feast in the subsequent scene. That's some decent healing power of the bacta tank 🤷‍♂️ :D

Boba clearly rejigged his skill tree and took all his points off of attack and onto defense and HP prior to this series.

The Wookie fight was not well choreographed but it isn't the only media to do it. Can happily explain the reasons why if anyone has a really bad quality of life.

There was a few things in that episode I didn't like and nothing that was real likeable, and a good amount of ok in between.

Yes it seemed to have spikes, and tasered, and impacted with full force into Boba’s unhelmeted and unprotected face/cheek. Not even a scratch....

Krrsantan seemingly did more damage to the Gammoran guard than he did on the bloke that he was tasked with assassinating.

Apparently Tem... Temura? Morison was asked about the negative reception of the mod squad.

FFS, just let him do his job and don't expect the actor to have to give a running opinion and commentary on his show, of course he can't come out and say 'it was sh*t mate', just let him think about his own role and keep the questions to that.

This isn't exactly grabbing me by the throat. 'Soft-touch' Boba Fett just isn't doing it for me. It's definitely not the Boba Fett story I was expecting (that's not necessarily a bad thing, unexpected can be surprisingly good) but I don't think it's the best Boba Fett story they can tell. If the narrative arc was Fett's near death experience and time with the Tuskens makes him become more respectful of life and discard his previous ways, I could be on board. But he was already sparing Tusken younglings and trying to help fellow prisoners escape before all that. People complain about the biker gang (and it was pretty jarring...I don't mind the enhanced kids, it's just the bikes look well out of place) but the fact he went there to sort them out, they talked back to him and he offered them jobs is pretty weak. Couple that with him thinking Shand was overdoing it by just showing her gun and it's certainly not the mercenary bad ass we've come to expect.

I really think the best story to tell was simply an adaptation or rewriting of the Bounty Hunter Wars premise.

As it is, it's like a lot of EU content: passable entertainment, largely enjoyable, but far from great.

On paper, the main story beats make a lot of sense. Boba is a target for more attempts at his life. He’s undermanned and needs some muscle. Hears about a rag tag group who are looking for work and have been enhanced with cybernetics etc. All of that sounds great and fits the narrative nicely.

However it was the execution that’s the problem. Not sure if it fell away with the directing, or production design, or costumes, casting etc to bring that from a script to reality. Probably a bit of everything really. The design itself of the bikes is just unusually average, and not sure why the lead bike requires 15+ rear view mirrors.

Anyway, I maintain Krrsantan should’ve torn through them (or ar least some of them) and the episode would’ve been better for it. 3 episodes in, opening was solid/good, second was excellent, third was a bit meh. Hopefully thats the “worst” one of the series and it can get back on track in the next episode.

Well, mainly it done what many shows do that feature an obviously stronger person fighting a weaker one. The fight features very few 'strikes', and mostly consists of throwing and pushing. The attacker has many opportunities where they can just choke and strangle their target, or punch them in the face, but they throw them around aimlessly instead. It's a way around braking logic I reckon. I recall the same thing happening often in Luke Cage for example. He rarely punches or whatever, probably because he'd kill someone, but what it does it gives the other people heaps of chances to get space between them, counter attack, and get the upper hand or escape, and it doesn't make sense to me watching it. A guy that loves breaking down fights in media, watching combat sport, and choreographing my own shitty little fight scenes to film with mates, it's something I notice and think about and feel about more than others. Probably.

It's a bit cheap IMO.

But that's always going to be an issue in a fantasy show like this. Either you don't have characters like Krstantan or you get around their physicality and show an engaging fight.

The throwing around stuff by Krrsantan I can understand why it is being questioned. He was there to kill Boba. And could’ve done so quite easily/quickly if he wanted to. Instead though the noise he makes from rumbling with and throwing around Boba alerts the others to come and fend him off.

Still puzzled as to how he got into the palace so easily. I wonder if this guy is still at the front door.

I think the problem is that when Bobby turned up in Mando he was whiz bang. I think we expected whiz bang. We saw a little of it in Ep 2 with the Train, but he seems as weak as a lettuce leaf at present

He just took on Black Krstantan? Dunno if he seems weak.

I know. I think I admitted that.

The other option would be to have Boba in his armour able to absorb the attacks, like Mando and the death troopers.

In general what I described is most noticeable in some things that are male vs female, the fight scenes are sometimes less rough with less punches and kicks and more throwing/pushing. I don't know. It could be a physical thing with actors not specialising in stunt work. It could be not wanting to be excessively violent toward a woman (ironic discussion here considering Temura's acting history).

Just to me, and I admitted that it could only be me and I don't expect anyone to agree, I immediately found it not that engaging because of what was happening. It was another immersion breaker personally.

Other enjoyed it, happy for them. I said why I didn't, was asked to elaborate, so I did. And I maybe I enjoyed elaborating on it a little.

On to episode 4.

Nah I definitely noticed it too. Commented earlier that for a species known for tearing out limbs he was very restrained.

That scene in Mando when he took on all the Storm Troopers with all his kit gear versus what’s been dished up so far? Where’s all that gone? Oh yeh, the FX $ went on crap teen bikies.

While limb tearing would be cool to see, Star Wars hasn't really ever been that gory. Light sabre dismemberment is the closest we get.

There was a deleted TFA scene with one so they've committed to one previously I guess.
