We felt sorry for them.

Collingwood and Carlton have always had a friendly relationship. And when we saw that Carlton were at danger of breaking a 106 year record losing streak, we thought we would do the noble thing and throw the game.

And naturally, Carlton would do the same for us if we were in their position.
