Personally I am all for the ball up.
For 2 simple reasons.
1. IMO the game and each contest should always start as 50-50.
2. Inability to bounce will block the path of a very good umpire.

IMO the new rule to recall bad bounces does nothing but highlight the pointlessness of bouncing it in the first place.

I cant cop the tradition argument, nor the 'not knowing' where its going to argument.

If the bounce never existed in the first place would the 'love to change the rules' committee or the general public ever think to change to a bounce? Not likely.

I would like to ask the bounce supporters if they have ever been to a local match where the umps throw it up and come away thinking "gee that was a great game but it would have been better if the ump could bounce the ball" or even a very wet game of AFL where the umps throw it up. I dont think a lot of supporter even notice when the ball is thrown up.

Of all the changes that have been made to the game imo they are still to change the most obvious one that needs to change.
