So I did just that and it was far less painful. Otherwise...

The problem is Peter Helliar is a "side-kick" not a host.

He's the one that chips in with a witty remark every 10 mins or so - he should never be a host.

When they cut to the audience shot I thought of 'When the Whistle Blows' starring Andy Millman. A crowd full of obese jerkoffs with no sense of humour, laughing their heads off at lowest common denominator drivel.

This show was absolutely dreadful and is no further advanced than other CH7 gems like 'Four Quarters' and 'Live and Kicking'. I give it no more than a month before it's shipped off to die in the 11:30 timeslot, or canned altogether.

It makes you wonder, people whinge about the Footy Show, they whinge about Before the Game and now are whinging about the Bounce.

I would like to know what these people want to see from a Football show ? The Bounce had it crap moments but seriously wasnt the end of the world.

Perhaps we should bring out a footy show that shows highlights of days gone by, then we can all talk about the good old days when footy was a thugs game.

The best "Footy Show" host IMO was Eddie back in the early days of TFS. He played the serious role and let Sam and Trev do the funny stuff on the side.

The "funny guy" is not meant to be the one who drives it.

I'm surprised the idiots at Network 7 have yet to figure this out after god knows how many years of broadcasting.

Not only that - they talked about football for most of the show!

Personally - the bounce was ok - not bad for a first show

The ad looks rubbish but I'll give the show a go. God knows, The Footy Show and Before the Game are both well out of puff so there's a spot for a lighter show about footy in my life. I hope it works - I was always sorry that Brigitte Duclos expriment didn't work out, although Sandy Roberts was too great a load for a show to bear.

The tv ratings for each show will be interesting throughout the season.

My God, the worst ever The footy show episode would be a billion times better than anything the bounce can throw up.I'm all for funny, but let's be serious the footy show is comedy gold. You know it's good when it is Tony Martin's favourite show.
I think a lot of people are suffering from tall puppy syndrome the footy show is and always will be the best.

Or maybe there are a lot of pretentious try-hards out there, proud and excited by the fact that so many shows are not up to their standards.

"Mmm... No, it is nowhere near good. The Footy show is even worse *sigh*. If you want a REAL football show, you will have to subscribe to Galaxy (which still exists if anyone BOTHERED to investigate) *rolls eyes* Channel 927 every 5th Friday night, and the show is called... Ahh.. Why am I wasting my time telling you this? You would not appreciate it. I have the entire collection on DVD including the out takes and directors cut. You stick to your Footy Show and Bounce.. Run along child.

Actually any show with Lethal on it has merit.

But it must be humiliating for a 'comedian' when the footy players are funnier.

PS Lyon is also light years from being an anchor, and having Brayshaw does not make up for that.

I actually reckon Harford or someone like that could do a better job

Yeah was puzzled they found that skit with the guy whose face paint wouldnt come off, hilarious. OMG hes getting MARRIED with Hawthorn FACE PAINT ON. I failed to see how that was funny.. i smirked maybe at the bit where he got wheeled in for surgery.

The set n that seemed cheap too. Richo was probably the only positive thing about the show.

And I got all that from watching maybe 10 mins of the show?

It's the Live and Kicking of 2010, typical Ch7 show with cheap set, graphics and audience.

Is it just me or does it look like the producers of TFS are just that: producers. While Ch7 have got the year ten media class from the local high school to put together a footy show.

I felt awkward watching this show. And while these are little things, I just don't see how commercial (I will not call them professional) television network in 2010 thinks that this is the standard....
- Having Helliar and Matthews standing is awkward enough, but then having Richardson sitting down behind the same desk?
- The chick in the quiz with her twenty dollar Essendon jumper from K-Mart.
- Having a massive set with only three panel members behind a small desk and then a band over in the distance. It doesnt work.
- Set design was terrible, what were the heavily pixelated screens supposed to represent?

Definetly struggled on its first night. Seemd to want to cram too many things in for the show. Hopefully they cut back what didnt work(which was alot):
1. The comedy intro, if your going to do grade 6 jokes, it wont work.
2. Have all 3 presenters sitting and not 2 standing and richo standing. Looks bad when lethal is moving all over the place.
3. The band didnt work on live and kicking, neither will this.
4. Stop trying to be funny every second of the show.

Hopefully next week they will talk more footy with more teams/games being available on a thursday night. Lethal and Richo seemed to work well together. They may show highlights from previous games as well.

The skits worked ok. The footy tipping guy was good, the hawthorn fan with permanent face painting is a good idea and could be good with some good jokes/story lines. The Punk'd segment worked well, hopefully a few more of these. (wasnt this idea used in 4 quarters, like when a woman pretended to be pregnant with Brad Pearce's baby?)

I reckon they should talk more footy, less grade 6 jokes and use the filmed skits. Get rid of the quiz, it didnt work.

However, peter Hellier isnt much of a host, he is the joker on the panel.

Good points Frumpy. I remember that Brad Pearce punk'd thing before.
Some people on here have been harsh considering the shows not actually targeted at them. It's for kids and parents who like harmless dad jokes (hence the 7.30 time slot). I reckon Damian Callinan, Daniel Harford, Matt Hardy or even Francis Leach would've been a better host and then Pete can be the funny guy. He did a pretty good job for 10 years on Ch10 in this role. It's a little bit punk'd, live & kicking and rove. There biggest advantage is that it's not The Footy Show which is soooo painful.

It's not that they don't really like it..it's just these days everyone feels they need an opinion and they feel it's their god given right to voice it - on bigfooty or online.

I have seen worst and it's only the first week. I am sure they will get rid of some skits and replace it with other things that work.
