People will probably shoot me down:) but I reckon Tim Watson would be an excellent host. Lots of media experience, comfortable behind the camera, great with the adlib, good sense of humour, knows his footy as well as the players. Get rid of Helier as he sux big time. Move it to 8.30 as a lead in to the footy show, and have a World of Sport feel. Around 60% footy talk, and 40% fun. As it is, its in no mans land.

Oh, and get rid of those stupid, stupid sketches.
 
This show can't make up it's mind if it's trying to be a serious footy talk show or a comedy show and ends up being neither.

The footy tipping guy is about the only mildly amusing sketch but even that's getting old rehashing the same old jokes.

I can't see this show going on for too much longer.

Why its bad:

  • Helliar is just not funny
  • The game analysis is a joke they spend about 1 minute on a game
  • The live band is a waste of space
  • The players seem really awkward on the show
  • Don't start on the taxi sketches....
  • Lame jokes about Barry Hall
Richardson is great on the Footy Show even on Before the Game he would be good. Matthews is a good commentator as well but he's above a rubbish show like this.

Not really, In the 15 mins of serious footy on the footy show when they bring in hutchy (some other bloke was in tonight, a better bloke) I feel in that 15 mins there is more real footy discussion there compared to the bounce.

In all fairness I think it is channel 7's fault. I mean compared to this hiller wasn't that bad on channel 10 when he was on before the game and Rove. Seven have a habbit of wrecking careers.

Just another example why it is sevens material letting it down for the hosts / special guests.
Richo was brilliant on 9's footy show but he is terrible on 7. He just isn't given that freedom as he would get on 9
 
Ratings are dropping.

250k last night way down on the premiere and thrashed by Getaway. TFS got 363k and it was on 2 hours later.

Agreed. I'm not a huge fan of Helliar but give me him over those hacks, Brayshaw and Lyon, or Sam Newman who's schtick got old around 1995. Richo and Matthews don't really do comedy but for me the whole format is preferable than the crap TFS has been serving up for the last 10 years. That said, I think they need less band, more focus on the teams. We're 3 eps in, give it a chance people.

I love The Footy Show and I get it when people want to have a whack at it from time to time for whatever reason, but I can't have it that this rubbish is a superior product in any way, shape or form.

They're two completely different shows for two different demographics. TFS is for those who enjoy schoolboy smut. The Bounce is family friendly. If you like TFS I doubt they're aiming The Bounce at you. Sure they are both football shows but three episodes is hardly a reasonable amount of time for a show to settle in.

That’s the weird part. The footy show is aimed at school boy smut, yet the Bounce is aimed and general school girl/boy humour. One show rates, the other is sliding at a rapid rate. So which school yard humour is the winner?

Being God, I should tell you what's going to happen.
In two months time, when the sounds of groaning and clanking (The Bounce) have scared another 100,000 viewers away, channel 7 will transmogrify this turkey into a 45 minute panel format show a la BTG.

Those two experts with the tv presence of steaming elephant doo doo, Richo and Lethal, will read teams and make a few predictions for 10 minutes.
Ads will flow like nectar from the land of milk and honey. The studio audience will laugh and clap robotically, as the remaining viewers are reduced to a state of torpor waiting for the game to begin.
At the end of the season Seven will proclaim the show a 'lead in' success - in places and timeslots where they're sure noone is likely to notice.
 
was on the train going to the footy saturday night, and overheard a few young kids 13-15 talking how funny and great the bounce was, i had my sarcasim detector on but it failed to pick anything up.

I've watched it three times but gave up just not funnt, though the footy show can be hit and miss it can still entertain.

God, I applaud your omnipotence but fear your wrath. And there could not be anything more wrathful than leaving this televisual t*rd on the tube for another two months. Please, mighty and merciful one, take some pity!
