The Brisbane Lions have been dealt with some very harsh critism here - and although I did not get time to read the 100 odd reponses in relation to Lions being branded as 'cry babies' - it was obvious what the general idea was. Now, I don't claim to know everything about the Lions salary cap etc; etc; but what I do know is that the Lions are not a weak, whinging side as some people perceive us to be.
Longjohn, you call us whingers?? Firstly, let's clear up this Simon Black incident. It was obviousely in your game plan to knock him out - it won you's the game. Black was in sparkling form at the time and would of teared your midfield apart.
In relation to your claim that our players were undisiplined to get reported - in relation to Craig McRae - this was no vision of him hitting Romero (i think that's who was). Now, if this happened to your King, the case would be thrown out. That is just a fact. And with Chris Scott, the guy he bumped from the bulldogs was a good friend; who stated that he believed the knock was fair - in vain really as he was wiped as well. Now, if this had happened to Carey - what would you think would happen???
You call us whingers?? What would u call your team? Carey receives so many free kicks a game it is not funny. Umpire, he accidently touched me; is that a free kick; oh, and can you toss in a 50m penalty; and make sure i am directly in front.
I also love it when Melbourne teams complain when they have to travel two weeks in a row. Poor us; they say; we only lost cause we travelled last week as well. To which the reply is 'don't worry boys; your next 7 games are at the MCG'.
I think you have to consider what your team is before you start rubbishing the Lions.
