Unfortunately it was an entirely foreseeable disaster.

The best thing the club could do is make a stand on his unacceptable performances. Announce his contract was being torn up and he was no longer welcome on Crows premises.

Instead we'll let him retire and thank him for his service.

While publicly flaying him like that would probably be fairly cathartic for the supporter base, it probably isn't a great advertisement for the club when looking to attract players in the future. By all means tell him that in private, but in public just do as you say - announce it as a retirement, thank him for his service, then move on.

Yep. the supporters will do the flaying regardless. Hopefully everyone associated with the club stays above the fray.

What an absolute clusterf**k though. Go Crows...

I actually think it might make us more attractive.

At the moment the message we're sending is "we have no standards, no discipline and no chance of success... so come to the Crows if you want to get paid a bunch of money to do nothing, but if you're after success stay way"

At least throwing Gibbs to the Lyons would show we're interested in changing the shambolic standard our players are in.

I disagree. All that would do is double down to the outside world that we are a toxic as * organisation. There is nothing attractive about toxic organisations.

This is a failure you bury as quietly, and as deeply as possible. No fanfare, just a quick "thank you for being a part of the organisation" and move on.

We'd be better served by actually improving our standards and showing it on the field (and off it).

Publicly humiliating a player like Gibbs doesn't help us towards that goal.

We shouldn't be publicly humiliating gibbs. Good luck to him. He didn't even want to come to the crows and managed to take the club for likely 3 million. I say well played Gibbsy, that's some serious coin per game. Gotta tip my hat to you for that heist. Based off a salary of 750,000 per year for 4years and 34 games played that would equate to $88,235.29 per game and likely the highest paid crow per game ever. The people we should be humiliating are the fools that brought a cooked player here that couldn't have cared less about the club and gave up effectively 2 firsts, lost a series of players over their lies and list management incompetence of doling out ridiculous contracts to Gibbs and other cooked seniors and embarrassed the club in the process. Good job guys They are strangely quiet but still employed and in positions of power at the club. I feel really confident that they are the right people to get us out of this mess.

I really can’t see the usual suspects allowing this to slink away quietly.

How did we fu** this up so badly

Club thought we were in a premiership window, a solid above average SA player wanted to come home that we tried to pursue when he was a kid under the father-son rule and for years following.

We paid massive overs.

Its more of an indictment of the VFL that teams like the Crows, Eagles with Kelly, have to pay massive overs to get players home.

In the end it was like a ransom we had to pay.

im talking about everything. From getting him, how we used him, coached him, then cast him aside

a broken watch gets more right

He has to go, no matter what the cost to set a standard. He knew exactly what reaction he would get from his tweets and was trying to appeal to Carlton supporters.

Nicksy and the club need to deal with some of the efforts of the Senior players if they want the younger guys to develop.

Gibbs tweeted the word "Baggers"
Yep, that was a few weeks ago after bLoos had a win and also on the weekend after bLoos' controversial Dockers game he posted a zipped mouth emoticon.

Nothing really melt worthy but if you're predisposed to dumping on him, could consider it as not a good look.

There was a bit of uproar at the time, might have been around the same time we were getting our arses handed to us. Nothing in it really, everyone knows his heart remains on Lygon St. He backed up after their last kick win on Sunday with an emoji of a head with a zipped lip. Pretty funny really, not sure it's been blown out of proportion like the earlier the one though. So doubtful it's had any impact whatsoever.

what weird stuff has Sloane being saying?

Enjoying his footy more than he ever as. Also said he was talking to Tex the other day who asked him how great is the job that we've got right now. So basically our 2 most senior players are enjoying themselves to the max and Sloane thinks that's entirely normal to express when staring down a winless season. He's not quite right.
