I have a feeling Gibbs is going to turn it on tonight and really come out to play. :thumbsu: :)

I would like to see him thrown onto the wing or the HFF and rotate Gibbs and Grigg through those positions so they can go one on one with Birchall.

I think they can hurt Birchall going the other way if they're swapped through those positions in bursts off the bench.

Grigg's speed and Bryce's footy skills might make it an interesting day for Grant.

The Bryce stuff.

Is this a new avatar I see before me? :D

"But Denis said they had put it to every player and 94 per cent of them voted for him — and they've only known the kid for three months." Gibbs snr said.

For me, I'm not concerned what position he plays, who he plays on or how many possessions he has.

What I am looking for, is the fact that he is prepared to do to the tough things, like going in and getting the ball, putting his body on the line.

Also, the possessions he does end up having, he uses them well, doesn't blaze away and turn over possession, he takes time to assess his options, and delivers the ball, whether it be by foot or by hand.

I look at it like this, if Gibbs has 10 possessions, and takes 4 marks across half back or through the midfield, across half back, he will be winning back possession for us, same could be said in the midfield, or it could be an attacking move, if of those 10 possessions, 5 of them set up a forward for a shot at goal, that's a 50% rate at a scoring opportunity, which is more than enough, considering, his other possessions may come from marks inside 50, which he then has the chance to convert, or could be handballs in a running move, which leads to Fevola on the chest.

Hopefully Bryce will get a bit more involved in the play today V Hawks. He seemed to be spending most of last Saturday just cruising around, and not getting to many contests. He only had a few possessions, but everything he did was extreme class of course. 1 Gibbs possession will be as effective as 4 normal midfielder possessions I suspect. :)

Hey guys, I think i have a different view on this article. Although it was a good read and i loved it, does any1 else feel that Ross has a little but too much to say. By this i mean that everytime Bryce is mentioned or does an article his father is close behind him. Although what he says is nothing negative (ala coke of the past) i just wish that he would let bryce be. Again last week on T.V there was an interview with his family. (i didnt mind it, its just that his always got something to say) I just wish that they could take a step back and let the kid grow without having to always be there. I might get spanked here but does any1 else feel the same way or give me a different perspective..

Cheers

They have been my initial thoughts as well Shmurf, i just didn't come out and say it for fear of getting cut down :p :)

It really seems like Ross has as lot to say, it's almost like Bryce is playing for his dad, and not him. Just shut up, back off and let Bryce be is what i think. The tv interview annoyed me. Yes, he's full of compliments, but gee, he kind of puts a lot of pressure on his kid. That's great, come out in support, but he doesn't need to constantly run the show when he's talking to the media. Bryce is humble, but the dad seems like he has very high expectations. Ross is not bryce's coach anymore, he should just be his dad instead of dad, manager, publicist, coach, spokesman all roled into one...

My thoughts only. I just feel nervous everytime he comes out and says something because it doesn't seem right for some reason. They've embraced teh club which is good, but they don't need to be his shadow and it feels to me like he's dictating his every move. Don't like it much. He's a big boy now, he doesn't need a babysitter to come out and speak for him. Seems Ross does not want to let Bryce out of his sight, in a way, holding onto all glory.

Perhaps he's envious or something, or overly proud, who knows. It's annoying though.

word of advice: Back of a bit, relax, let him enjoy footy, don't worry about the media, and go and have a beer and bbq with Mr. Murphy snr.

Thanks AWG just with the bolded part, i think that he has shown the way with his profile and how to let his son just play footy. Well done JM snr.

Not sure I totally agree here. From the article it is clear that Ross has been heavily involved in his footy from an early age and they have really strong family values.
Remember the Kid is still only 17, away from home and really still finding his way.
I'm sure as soon as Bryce has played a few games and is fully settled in Melbourne then the family will move more into the background.

Also the Ross / Sticks connection is still a bit of a story, always mentioned but this will also fade meaning Ross will not be required to be quoted etc.

The thing in the article that all of us should be excited about is ''I'd love to captain Carlton''.
This virtually puts paid to any doubt he will be a Blue for Life.

But he'll be Captain after Murph stands down:thumbsu:

woops. i remember a similar thread with no order it was just like "choose a player to report on throughout the year" i thought that was it. sorry. especially to sublime.

You guys are getting waaaay ahead of yourselves over Gibbs, and other things, but i will stay with him.

I'm sure hes going to be a good player in the future, maybe a super star but to expect to him to just come out and "turn it on" in his first season of REAL footy, is unrealistic.

Give him time.

Hate to agree with a bomber...although I am married to one:D , but I tend to agree.

Gibbs will be a star, but he has a lot of pressure on him this season being no1 in a superdraft and part of the leadership group. I am very happy with what he has done, he looks all class, but he won't propel us up the ladder this season.

I think we have been spoiled with how well Murph has gone( just made to play football right away:) ) Gibbs is taller and a different type of player so he might take a bit longer to really get going.

Still it's all good:thumbsu: Just can't wait for the future when these two kids turn it on for us and take us to our next flag:)
