This is the new Bucks megathread. The last one has become too large and needed shutting down. Admin has recommendations in place for large threads. Welcome to the next instalment.

It has been on topic, whats your point
The Buckley discussion is likely to become very emotional over the next few weeks. We now have an opportunity to keep that discussion on topic without the need for name calling and division amongst posters.

I genuinely admire your optimism that this thread might be kept civil, it is a truly impressive idealism.

My own optimism in relation to Buckley discussion is that this thread be the sole repository of angst, bile and bitterness, in the hope that other threads might be quarantined from the toxicity of anti-Bucks sentiment. It makes for some poor reading in this thread, but I think it makes better reading for the board more generally.

I understand your theory but in my opinion it’s a cop out. This topic will become the most important discussion on this board since Buckley took over. There is no reason why it can’t be moderated to a high standard.

Thanks mods.

Back on topic, I believe Buckley can coach but is likely to run out of time to prove it. Unless there is an immediate improvement in our win/loss ratio, he is a big chance to be removed before the end of the year.

I’m really hoping the boys keep up the standard set against GWS for the rest of the year.

Bucks game plan works when he has the solider's available to execute it, not a great excuse but it's it.

A massive problem doesn't even fall on him, it's the centre midfielders not communicating in the centre at bounces and stoppages around the ground, too many times our players get sucked into the contest instead of back a teammate to win it, so when the ball comes out we're constantly screwed.

Same thing with the Long bomb to a contest, as long as a key tall or player makes a contest in the forward 50 where crumbers can get too I'm fine, it's clear it's apart of the gameplan, thats why those having a sulk every 10 minutes about Tom Phillips disposal when he kicks to a contest is just silly, because thats what is required. It failed in the second half without Moore last week but it worked in the first half.

Just an opinion.

I believe Buckley will be one of the best assistant coaches in the AFL should he resign or be sacked.
You might be correct, although I think he would be more likely to go into the media.

Two ways to guarantee that Jmac, we have solid success on field for the season remainder. What I mean by that is there is optimism for a bright future that is within reach, not the seemingly dark limbo in mid to lower ladder showing glimpses that only tease

Or

There is change at the helm - not at the end of the season, not the bye. Has to be now, there has to be change now - win very well on the weekend or Bucks is gone or atleast a public announcement that he will be.

There is no room to move on this. The tribe is at the very end of its tether and there are some less than polite elements in this tribe that are reactionary and an innocent poster might walk into said reaction.

The only two ways to guarantee your wish

We're not sacking a coach mid season ffs. Get over it.

Before my ban from this thread is activated I would like to post this

Bucks will be Pies coach in 2018......all the whining in the world will not change that fact.

It’s difficult to say with any certainty. Given the quality players coming back we could well get to the bye at 6-6. Should that happen Bucks will see out the season.

If we lose to Carlton though we could well be looking at a 0-6 start. In this scenario the media pressure would be impossible to withstand, and it’s very possible Bucks could be removed.

So much is riding on tomorrow night.

Exactly, the club isn't going to after a torrid season of will they wont they re-sign him, sack him 2 rounds into a new contract. Anyone with a bit of brains knows that if that happened, it'd reflect on how poorly the club is being handled and how much money it'd cost. Plus the players would probably lose it.

Media pressure? Bucks has been under that since 2012 mate.. Eddies not going to sack him, nor will he let it happen.

True, but I think it would hit an unprecedented level. Once it affects the players a coach is history.

What does the club gain by sacking their coach after Round 3?
How can Buckley remain at the helm if a public announcement has been made on his future?

You sir are delusional.

Of course but theres nothing to suggest that the players will be worried about the media. Yeah they will know that their not performing. The players were under a bit of that last year and end up coming out of it pretty well with a few good performances.

Carlton and Collingwood meet with both clubs searching for their first win of the year under a Friday night spotlight he said provided “a fantastic learning opportunity” for his side.

“Pressure is part of the landscape. Every week there’s an element of pressure,” Bolton said.

“Our players, this whole year is going to stay the same. We’ve got to build synergy and chemistry because they haven’t been together a lot. We’re still learning and building.”

“I’m not here to talk about ‘Bucks’ (Nathan Buckley), but it’s only Round 2. We can quickly ... catastrophise things. Pressure is something that can be manufactured very quickly and we’ve just got to temper that a little bit, I would have thought.”
