Back in high school, during cross country season I was running 125 miles per week on average.

At that time in the US, cross country meets involved a 3 mile course, and me and my Dad used to run organized 10K (6.2 miles) races for fun.

I was in definite race shape, figured "half marathon, no problem."

Had zero idea about the strategy for running a 13 mile half marathon, rabbited that race, totally blew it. No problem finishing, but let's just say I didn't finish where I thought I should.

So please talk to someone who knows what they're doing.
