After tonights performance how should we handle the next week?

Obviously the boys need to have tackling pressure drilled into their heads some more... but who in essence gets next weekend off and who plays for the scorps out of the 22 tonight?

Could not think of a worse way of leading into our bye than tonight.

I doubt it can be done & its not fair on Casey players but they all should have a run next week.

I think the last quarter indicated we were due for a buy. We've had a great draw, but these 6 day breaks have caught up to us.

Blease, Morton, Bennell, Jurrah should have a run for Casey in a selection battle off with the likes of Dunn, Evans and Tapscott.

Really I think everyone else will be better off with a rest combined with a few tough sessions on the track.

They learnt nothing from the Collingwood game. We have to face facts that we are a middle of the road side that will finish between 6th and 13th.

We are a team of downhill skiers that like to give pressure but can't take pressure. For me this is our greatest problem and it just hasn't happened this year, it's happened for almost 2 decades under Balme, Daniher and Bailey. When we lose more often than not we will get belted.

Bailey proves time and time again that he is not man for the job cos he's taking the club nowhere and I hope we lose like so many teams have after the bye so it can be settled once and for all.

This is the worst loss we have had all year. We couldn't afford to lose this game cos after the Port game we are certainties to lose the next 3 which we means we have to win every game after that.

We can blame Jihad all we like but if you are not going to have a go and then make stupid mistakes your never gonna win.

Not sure what we need to face can't think of anyone who predicted we would be anywhere above or below 6th-13th.

If they did, they are a fool!

I thought 7-9th.

The teams from 6th to 13 are all ordinary. It doesn't matter if we make the 8 or not we will still are ordinary. The only teams that have improved are the top 5, the rest haven't.

We should need to improve for Bailey to keep his job. I would say after tonight there is no doubt that we haven't improved. The only reason we could still make the 8 is because we have a favourable draw for the last month of the season.

how do we handle the bye? make em run to the venue for the next game
... While carrying all those on our injured list! :)

Seriously: have a debreif, have monday-wednesday off, then get flogged heavily on the training track until monday, and from there as usual.

I'm just curious: what power does the coach of Casey have to select who plays for them? Could the coach of Casey refuse to let senior players play? Is there any sort of quota system where the Casey team has to have a certain percentage of pure Casey (non-MFC) players playing. I don't know much about how the Casey/MFC affiliation works. Obviously if the entire senior list played it would be very unfair on the VFL competition so there must be some kind of rule on it. I know theres a rule about who can play in the VFL Grand Final. Does anyone know how this works?

Given that we refused to let Melbourne players play in Casey finals a couple of years ago, I doubt we would be able to load up Casey with AFL players this week.

And yes, there is a max of 12 (I think) AFL listed players for any VFL team, except for I think Geelong and Collingwood who have an exception since they run the VFL team.

Ando that is what I thought too, but will stand to be corrected.

I hope they don't play all our players for Casey, they'll waste their usual coming-off-a-flogging motivation to thrash Box Hill Hawks. Bugger that! let them bottle it up for a week to try to overcome the post-bye-blues.:D

Make them watch a video of S.Wight until they understand what real courage is. The senior players should hang their heads in shame.I should add i am not talking about individual courage , but that of the group.
Its a great idea. BUT this is the kind of behavior and mindset we should be trying to discourage. We want to play at a consistent level EVERY week, not just when someone dies or we get smashed in the media..

I am guessing its an issue the coaching staff are scratching their heads over . Consistancy will come when the group of kids mature in footballing terms. There is no such excuse for the senior players.

I would put "Sticks" Morton in the gym 24/7 and after that send him to Maccas to get a decent feed into him.

While he feasting on the burger and chips, make him watch a dvd on how to go in hard for the Sherrin.

Great post BS, I agree I'm sick of players only getting up when something happens. Why can't players be motivated week in week out? Green seems to only play well (this year) when his name is being bashed. I singled out Green coz he's the skipper.
