I call "Sister/Mother/Girlfriend/Cousin/Close-Family-Friend" of the Morton family.

I think you hit the nail on the head here!

brent grgic. now yr giving me nightmares. remember that game where he absolutely turned it on against collingwood at the mcg? i honestly thought the sky was the limit with that kid. seemed to have it all.

morton has none of the laconic nature of the gurge.

it's interesting if you look at that 07 draft, there's really not a lot of talent to it.

Some of you people are an absolute disgrace. Ive never seen such bitterness and nastiness ever. How many of you have played AFL? Do you know what goes on behind closed doors? How about supporting one of your own instead of turning on him when the times get tough. Cale Morton has spent the past two preseasons injured, both long term injuries that required surgery and stopped him from having full preseasons. I also agree that his role in the side is poorly defined so how on earth can you expect him to know what it is if it's not clear to us who watch week in, week out. Is it any wonder that he isnt fulfilling your huge expectations? This is the same kid who called hundreds of members each year since joining the club and asked them to sign on, even when the performances had been bad. From all accounts, he loves the team and the guys he plays with so how about just enjoying him for the athlete he is. Give him one preseason without interruption and then we'll see what he's made off. Give him a break, I'm not even a Demons fan but I watch each week because I like your style of play and the players on your list. This kids amazing, he's got the talent. I see glimpses each week and I think when he gets a full preseason he'll surprise alot of people.

Sentiment is good. Execution of it was poor.

It's easy for us supporters to bag a player when he's down - it's what we do best. The problem for Cale is that he doesn't look interested. It's not as if he is busting his balls each week and it's not working for him. We'd be more sympathetic towards him if that was the case. Instead he is soft, doesn't work hard enough and for an outside player his skills aren't up to scratch. That's just the nature of the beast.

I have a feeling we may let Cale go to free up more money for S****y and others over the next few years. I'm not too unhappy about that.

This is pure speculation and nothing more, but, does anyone feel as though Morton could be one of the players who already has an agreement with GWS for next season? GWS announced they have 3-4 players all but signed up and I get the feeling Morton may be one of them.

Thoughts? Again I'm only speculating here, no source or friend of a friend of a friend. But I think he would be a target for them, especially with him still being young and with plenty of footy ahead of him.

And he is being soft as shit so as not to ruin his first season with the Giants lol, so he can make an impact and win their BaF in his first year...doubt it, would be nice

BUt if they have offered Scully this contract i would assume no players have been signed from us

The offer to Scully and the fact there have been zero rumours surrounding him suggest not. If he goes, I'd want him to go to GWS to ensure we got a half decent compo for him.

Wishful thinking that Morton has already signed on with GWS. Scully is the priority for GWS, Morton they can probably pick up later on for a bag of pork rinds. They wouldn't work the transaction the other way around.

Agreed that it's wishful thinking & the Scully offer negates this.

But it's not that unreasonable to suggest that they've sounded him out, said if Scully pulls the pin you're #2 on the list & waved a potential contract figure out there so he at least doesn't sign with MFC until after Scully's decision.

Or they could have even done the above & said even if we get Scully they'll try to trade for him, they'll have plenty of picks to offer us.

Poor performances that span over a year in a real work place get you the sack. So the kid should deal with it and stop being a pampered little school girl. He is paid to play good football, now Mrs Morton go out and tell him to perform his paid duties properly.

You are a pompous fool. i'm sure it doesn't say in his contract that he has to play 'good' football.

Who is the judge of what is good? Who is his 'goodness' compared too? Judd?

He is playing in the senior team - i would say these are his paid duties.

Just because his form isn't up to the standard of some internet guy doesn't mean he should be sacked.

Geez, BS where do I start with you.

First point I will make is please show me where I ever stated he should be sacked?( I stated a normal person would be sacked for these sort of performances in the workplace, there is a difference) Look through my posts I have never said he should be sacked and have actually said we shouldn't entertain the idea of trading him either.
BS Fail on this one
Second Point- It might not state that he should play good football in his contract, but I am sure any idiot would realise that it is a requirement. What happens if you play shit football during you contract? You get delisted.
Therefore would it be safe to assume he is paid to play good football? Yes.
BS also fails on this one

Well the Morton's are family friends of my parents. I feel i should stand up for him when he can't.
He doesn't have to stand up for himself if he pulled his finger out and played some decent footy. Plain and simple don't play like a spud for two years and you won't cop the criticism.
Oh and it wouldn't hurt if he actually looked interested and tried, hell maybe even lay a tackle or two.

Anyone else get the feeling that BS is 'Abbotsarmy'?

Sorry Jeffry take Cale and your stained coat to Canberra with you, and try to stop them spouting all that hot air into our atmosphere.

Thats the easiest question to answer.

The people who pay to watch his crap football are the best ones to make a judgment, and the majority are currently saying he's game is crap.

Shape up or ship off Cale.

Anyway there's a really strong rumour doing inside circles he and his brothers are off interstate.
So there's ever chance he's currently getting games to keep his trade value Up.

Yeah bit harsh I think

Cale Morton is a gun, great skills, massive heart, loves contested footy. I really think GWS should be offering him a massive contract, forget Tom, what's his name, Scully I think.....

I'll say it again, we gain nothing from letting him go while low on confidence.

His value is diminished for one.

He has a close knit group of mates at the club, he has struggled to put on sufficient weight and is still growing.

He will come good IMO, has a great set of skills which haven't been showcased this year.

spot on, altought ill admit im startin to doubt him, he is only 1 yr older than watts, and at only 21 can still put on heaps more... would be the sort of player if we let go will be a key in any side when hes a about 24-25.. hes a mid who can play outside, yet has the height to fill a role as a key backman and forward.. will be even more valuable than watts as swingman one day in my opinion , and besides.. no one will give a 1st rounder for him, and a 2nd rounder in this years draft is certainly not worth it..

You can call me whatever you want, he has shown very little in his time at the club. Blame his injuries, body size or whatever - but was not, nor is, good for the club. Every time he gets the ball, I cringe - especially if it's anywhere near the goals in defense. I would take whatever we can get for him.

This thread needs an image of my pulpy brain after beating it against the same brick wall over this guy, over and over and over again.

Horrid.

I wouldn't trade him, but I don't see why he should be playing either. Not whilst the likes of Blease and Bate are playing well at Casey.

Spot on. What I've noticed is that he is not finding space like he used to do so well. It's how he gets his hands on the footy but he just isn't doing it anymore. Confidence is gone!
