After watching Morton go around last night, I have reached the conclusion that he is ahead of his time, a pioneer of sorts. In the past, players have been rewarded for "Hard Running", but Cale has come up with the concept of "Soft Running". It's like hard running in that it involves working up and down the ground. Cale did this well last night - he was generally near the contest. But therein lies the difference - he was near the contest, not at it.
Far too often, he was 10 metres away from the hard work, creating an option perhaps, guarding dangerous space, waiting for the release. Only if he had no other option would he actually approach the contest and try to influence it.
GO GET THE BALL, CALE. DON'T ALWAYS WAIT FOR IT TO BE DELIVERED TO YOU ON A SILVER PLATTER. PUT YOUR HEAD OVER IT.
Soft Running. It's gonna be a thing.
Anyway, Cale either needs a well-defined role in the team, or a spell at Casey. Fair enough if the FD wants to give him the rest of the year in the team to show something, but GIVE HIM SOMETHING TO DO. Don't let him just piss-fart around the half back line.

Cale's an outside player, and for a lot of people around here, you're either a tough-as-nails inside player, a KPP, or GTFO. Aaron Davey and Cale Morton both cop it because they don't tend to win their own ball.
Cale has been poor the year. He has a few excuses, and in any other year I'd be just as outraged at the calls to get rid of him, but this is not any other year, this is GWS year, as we're quite aware thank you very much, and we might just be able to get a good deal for him. If we can't get at the very least a high 2nd rounder for him then I'd like to keep him, but if we can, we should definately consider it. He's skilled and has enormous potential but he has major attitude and confidence problems, and needs to put on weight. All of these issues can be fixed during pre season.

Morton had more score involvements for Port than the Dees on Saturday night.

He was the only real struggler for mine, a few guys didn't seem to cope with the heat very well & weren't at their best, but he was the one guy who stood out as playing below par & has rightly been dropped after consistent performance at that level.
Not sure what to think about him for now or the future, only that I'd sigh a big mother Effing sigh of relief if GWS signed him right about..... NOW.
RalphyHeraldSun Super news for Dees on dark day. Cale Morton and Stef Martin have signed new deals, will be announced later today. Green signing impending
