Cameron Rayner is an AFL footballer for the Brisbane Brions football 'club'. He is 18 years old and was taken with Pick 1 in the 2017 National Draft. This means he was rated the best junior footballer in all of Australia for the year 2017. Best out of everyone. Every single junior. This guy is the creme de la creme.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't know young Raygun personally. He seems like a good bloke. Whatever. My question is:
Are YOU FITTER than Cam Rayner? Can you beat the Number 1 Draft Pick in one of the key indicator's used before the draft?
This thread aims to solve that question. Indeed, I'd like to know whether a bunch of bitter, largely useless, gone-to-seed internet warriors are in actual fact, fitter than the Number 1 Draft Pick.
No chance I hear you say. Never. I mean look at the kid. He's a freak. He's the best. He's had 12 possessions (total) in his first two games of AFL and spent less than 75% TOG -- he's an absolute MONSTER!!
Here me out here though.
As you may remember, young Raygun and a few other flogs did a private 2km time trial just prior to the draft, as they'd missed the main combine testing.
Now I have the results here somewhere... ah yes.
Raygun ran a 7:57.
Flogs of the Bay. Are you fitter than number 1 draft pick Cam Raygun?
THE CHALLENGE:
- Find you local athletics track. This is the most effective way to run the exact distance without hinderance, with no doubt similar testing conditions to those imposed on young Raygun and Co.
- Run 2km as fast as you can. That's 5 laps. No cheating. Run fast!
- Time your run on your watch (Garmin, Polar, Fitbit, whatever) and post a photo of your time in this thread. Extra validation points for posting a picture of the time/date screen as well.
- Enter Valhalla.
Now go run.
And you never know, old Fagan lips might draft you, too.
