Yep I agree with your thinking - I'm just questioning whether Teague is up to keeping positive momentum and whether the Club is putting enough thought into continual over all culture and development.
btw - insightful comment on the difference between competing against the market and other competitors doing same - and a football Club. Still the management principles are the same - the time frame is different as you say.
Competition is now getting very close- the notion of low middling and finals sides is not too spread as it used to be. Cant see any 'easy games' this year.
Again, this decision should have been made at the end of the 2019 season. Sit down and evaluate all of the available coaches, their records, strengths & weaknesses etc and then make a decision. Instead, the Board sacked BB mid-season and appointed Teague as stand-in coach. The Board received feedback that the players liked Teague who managed to pull a few wins, and they decided to persevere with him. Did they at least surround him with an experienced mentor(s)? No. In the meantime, Pyke has gone to Sydney and Williams to Melbourne and we are stuck with Barker. This is where the CEO & the Board are clearly nieve and continuing with the insane practices that have resulted in the CFC having their worst 20 years ever.
If at the end of this season Teague does not meet the KPI's set for him (finals?) and he is sacked, we then have to look for a new coach. This means new assistants, new game plans, the coach evaluating the list and determining who he does and does not want. Coaches like Lyon & he shall not be named are notorious for their structures etc. Another 2 or 3 wasted years as all of this is put into place. Irrespective of which coach they appoint, there will always be a number of players they will not like and will actively try and get rid of, which will result in friction. We could have had an experienced former coach mentoring Teague which would have fast-tracked his development. Instead we have Brad Lloyd as Head of Football? If Lyon is appointed as coach, he will be the first to go.
Matt Rendall is out there in the wilderness. A man with a lot of experience and knowledge especially about the draft, has been proven 100% correct about what he said of Collingwood, about their structure and their game plan. There are many others out there.
Unless the club falls away alarmingly, we should stick with Teague and bolster the support around him with some experienced heads and get rid of the dead wood that has been hanging around for too long.
