Please. Shows he actually cares about the direction of the club rather than just turning up for a paycheque
The players aren't supposed to run the show. Has Sammo done enough to say he'll see who we get and then decide? I see it as an arrogant stance and I'd say the same if it was Sam Walsh..who imo has shown a whole lot more in a shorter time. There are obviously some very strong SPS fans here and that's fine.
I wasn't looking to offend you, but I won't apologise for having a different opinion.
Earn your spot Sammo, then do your best to work hard under whichever assistant and senior coaches you get. Knowing there will be coaching changes for the better, should be enough for any player who wants to build something with our club.
It's good enough for Crippa and Harry. You either want to make something as a team or you don't
Hope that clarifies my p.o.v.

I understand that point of view, but professional athletes have a short career.
It's probably fair to say that Samo is not currently reaching the potential that he (and we) think he has.
Whoever is coaching us next year might have a pretty big influence on how his entire career goes, given that he's at somewhat of a crossroads. Don't think it's unreasonable to ask the question.
It doesn't matter where he plays next season, if he is not making tackles or putting on defensive pressure he is going to be hammered by every coaching group.

I think most of us are sick of SPS playing half-back. God can we rewind back to 2017 when he took Collingwood to the cleaners.
I think more of us are sick of his non performing. Players need to put in and bust there arse for their club no matter what position they are being played in. Its almost like if I'm not playing where I want I'll take my ball and go home

It certainly can be about game plan.
If you can move the ball to a player who is not under pressure, they're more likely to use the ball better. If they have an option who is also not under pressure, the kick can be a little bit off, and still be marked, or gathered, and kept in control.

I think it's easiest to see at our stoppages (and why I was so critical of Barker as our stoppages coach).
We win the ball, but are immediately under pressure, and so it's a pressured handball to a player also under pressure, or a hack kick forward. But when we lose the stoppage, the ball goes out to a free player, who then has time to deliver the ball. It's why Collingwood, and other teams, were able to open us up so easily.
It's a good thing our transition coach is so good. Right?

Absolutely not offended and appreciate your point of view, but we have drafted a young indigenous kid from W.A who got picked number 6 in the national draft because he was killing it as a midfielder tackling machine. You used Walsh as an example as someone who has gone past him, but regardless of the fact what Walsh is a Once in a generation talent (who everyone knew was the clear number one) Walsh has always been played in the position he was drafted in. Yes started as wing but wing and guts are very similar. SPS has been thrown around.
With SPS everyone goes on about his dinky little 15 meter kicks playing out of defence but that is because he doesnt want to take a risk, doesn’t want to turn it over. He will be willing to take more risks if him making a turnover doesn’t turn into an opposition goal. He isn’t a defender. He is a 360 degree player who has to hunt the ball.

We have a young man who wants to play good football, but can’t play good football unless he gets an opportunity in his position, so wants to know who the coaches will be and if they rate him.
Samo wanting to know who will be coaching isn’t just good for Samo, it’s good for the Carlton football club.

Because he has never consistently done it hence why he has been out of the AFL side for so long
IN his first 3 years Samo averaged 4.5 tackles a game .
Personally I think he was tracking ok as a mid given the poor standard of the team over that period .
We got impatient shifted him back brought others into the mix who mostly haven't fared any better besides Walsh of course .

If you read the article his only direct quote is I love the club and want to stay.
Then his management state we will have to keep our options open as the new assistants might not want him.
I think you might have been misled and jumped the gun arrogance is not a trait I see in Samo.
I’d say he might be a bit insecure with his position with out a contract and the Cerra rumours floating around

Please. Take off the bonnet, and check to see if you can shake the hive out.

Yep. I did jump the gun
..went off a post quoting what he had supposedly said and then later the article was posted. Quite different. I should have known better.

Was tracking equal to many other established mids competition wide. Better than some worse than others but right in that normal development mix. Until the club shoved him down back.

Sorry to jump on to this convo late, and sorry of it’s been covered already, but if you were a footballer at any level, and you thought the coach was crap and you knew he didn’t rate you, would you sign on to play for them?

If Teague is retained, the club will back him in.

Sammo was dropped after coming on as the sub and getting 15 possessions in 3 quarters, Williams had 8 touches and kept his spot. I think Teague is full of it and I’m surprised more of the players aren’t offside with him.

I wouldn’t be signing on to work under an incompetent boss and having my best years wasted.

Ross highlighting our poor defensive structure/efforts on FC.
God help a few players if he becomes coach. The armchair ride would be over.
Got into Williams and Docherty re poor defensive efforts. Showed vision and more or less criticised Teague's defensive game plan. I can't see him as an applicant after what he said. Also, Sam McClure reckons we've approached Chris Newman as an assistant.
