Ditto. Smith is looking good but I just can't shake the feeling that Langford is gonna turn it on.
Still reckon Draper the most impactful centre bounce / stoppage mid from the group, but the Pars defect is cause to pass. Doesn’t have the scope of Jagga or Langford to find the ball in general play on exposed form. More pure extractor, but not a huge body, so remains to be seen how it stacks up against the big boys with game sense.

Jagga was my number two, but not by much. Was a strange year with various midfield prospects elevating at different times. Jagga was the constant, consistent high level. The big question was if his game would transfer to the big time against mature bodies with game sense. Gave us an insight with his oerformances for Richmond reserves, then his pre season has confirmed he just has “it”. Somewhat of a hybrid of Butters and Daicos. Elements of both, may not be quite the hard man ZB is but not far off, and has those dancing feet that creates space and makes the difficult look easy. Has the game sense and instincts of Daicos, perhaps less incisive with disposal, but probably more consistent and has a combative edge not seen in Nick D.

Langford is untapped. Can get first hands in traffic and finds space despite his big body. Not “flashy” but oh so effective. Can go forward and take a very solid overhead grab, usually one grab. Great hands. Arguably a little of Crippa, but plenty of Bont. Probably a slower burn, but his ceiling will be very interesting to see.

Loved reading this, just a well thought out, informatively written post.
👍 Coona.

Langford a great prospect but he won't have the size advantage he usually had....nor the time to find space that he did so well in the juniors....

Your bolded bit applies equally to him! (maybe more so given he's nowhere near as slippery as Jagga).

as much as I wanted Sid Draper, as you say his back was cause to pass

hopefully he will recover but at the moment he is still not training fully at the crows

Too early to send this to tigers mates...?

One of those decisions where we can't lose. Both will be guns but are very different as well. Langford for me is a Bontempelli type and Smith is NDaicos type.

Only disappointment for me is we don't have both

Looking to go to the GWS vs Carlton match in Canberra at the end of Feb. But I can not find any info on the Carlton website about this match. I thought I saw something mentioned that members can get in for free and I am just looking to confirm that.
From the email I received:

The AAMI Community Series is almost here with Carlton taking on the GWS GIANTS at Manuka Oval.

As a member, here's how you can access the game!

  • Scan into the stadium using your physical membership card or digital member ticket (subject to capacity).
  • Guarantee your entry by registering for a general-admission ticket via Ticketek ($5 adult / concession, $0 junior)
  • Guarantee your entry by reserving a seat via Ticketek ($10 adult / concession, $5 junior)

Members wishing to guarantee their access via Ticketek can do so from 12pm AEDT Wednesday 5 February, using the below unique barcode number (excluding the two-letter prefix).

Heading up for this. Can't imagine that there would be that many there there so unless it's wet you'd just rock up, scan in for free and pick your possie.

Went to giants v lions last year at Manuka and there were 13,000 there and it was tight but still reasonably comfortable

The Gary Lyon thing is utter nonsense

Says curnow not an a grader cause of finals rep, but also doesn’t have Walsh whose a Gary Ayres medalist

Always been a Carlton hater Lyon
Your point is spot on.

But personally I don’t mind question marks hanging over Charlie Curnow, because I think he has the fire in his belly to really prove them wrong by the end of his career.

4 (Cripps Charlie Walsh Weiters) Walsh maybe lost it but at his best he is, other 3 are just straight up locks

TDK and jagga will soon be added to the list. Strength of our side is the top end talent
Harry is an A-grade player imo. Not really sure what more he can do to prove it. His only real issue inside 50 was his goalkicking which has largely been good over his career despite a dip in 2023. Arguably the best contested mark in the game and for a 200cm+ player has great speed and puts pressure on as well. And then lastly up the ground he is for me the most effective forward in the competition outside of Jeremy Cameron. Can ruck, take the relieving mark and is a very good field kick.
