How would have “Stuart Little”gone with his financials and membership if he was worked with a list like we had in 2015. What a joke. Riding on this promising list. Thanks SOS!!
I get it, you're team #StandbySOS but lets be real here, the success of SOS' tenure won't be known for a number of years and most will be aware of that.
Our club has begun to turn itself around off-field on the back of some of the more putrid seasons on-field in recent memory and there will be a number of contributing factors to that - it's laughable however, that some attempt to snipe at Liddle for supposedly stealing SOS' shine all the while attributing any success associated with Liddle's domain to SOS.

Ugh. No one wins when articles like this come out , but i think Josh probably has legit reasons to be aggrieved. We probably shouldn't have picked him in the first place.

It is bad because the selection made no sense given we were open to quitting a player after 6 months.
When exactly did we decide that we needed a mature-aged mid, only to have a light-bulb moment and actually drop Murphy and ECurnow back into their preferred positions?

It's a little silly, very unfortunate and another individual that leaves our club with shit on their liver.

What bothers me is the insinuation that Josh was promised to be given at least 18 months on the list by someone at the club ,which made him do the big lifestyle decision to move from WA to Vic.
I really do not feel comfortable with the movers and shakers going back on their words to players, it's just a repeat of past mistakes by the club.

Club record profit and rising from the ashes like a phoenix, unified with an emerging list? Tumbleweeds...
Rookie delisted? Has happened before and will happen again - happens at all clubs... Media on point!!

What a joke.

You may have missed the point though;

If Deluca was told he'd have the 18 months as he suggests and we reneged on our promise - This isn't good thing.

As above. Many individuals leave this club in a very unsatisfactory manner.
It's just the way we seem to do things and have been doing for quite a while now. I don't know why.

Wrt him questioning why he was picked up in the first place if we were targeting other forwards... Its a very good question and I think just unveils a little bit of the disharmony within the club wrt this pick. Best of luck to Josh, hope he gets another shot.

I wonder if SOS leaving has anything to do with this. Things change when the list manager leaves, and the list manager may have made said promise but once he's gone the club isn't beholden to what the old guy said.

As for Deluca specifically, he probably didn't really deserve a spot to be brutally honest. Averaged under 12 possessions and just more than a half a goal a game as a forward. A mid 30s over the hill Eddie Betts is much more valuable than him, Gibbons returning and the club indicating that Martin will play forward means there's just not a spot for a guy with such poor stats. The numbers don't lie. It's a shame because Deluca seems like a good guy and is a proper grafter on the track, but this is the business, you can't fit everyone on the list.

SOS didn't want Deluca, he was over-ruled.
This has been stated by several reliable posters.

Gibbons

But cherry picking suits the agenda

But cherry picking suits the agenda

Gibbons trained with us and had a full head of steam leading into the season.
Deluca had little time to get prepared and then be AFL ready mid-season.

That's still not the point though;
Gibbons as a rookie knew he had a full season to make good.
Deluca (according to him) was told he'd be on the list next year, but that didn't come to be. Maybe he's lying.....but if he isn't.....what do you think?

Ratings period drop off, kick Carlton while their down season has started on Channel Timmy and his crap radio show with the White ant

No mention of the fact he was recruited at the insistence of a coach who got the 4ss a week later.
Was a dumb pick though. Let's recruit a "mature mid", pick the smallest bloke we could find, then play him out of position because the new coach had more sensible ideas about who should go in the midfield.

I wonder if there was pressure on Teague to play him, to avoid stories about "Blues mid-season pick farse: No 1 doesn't get played"...
Otherwise, why bother? If you want to try him out of position, do it in the Magoos where he at least has a chance...

Stop adding layers

Your original post was about why we added more mids, while we did the exact same thing with Gibbons

None of us know the truth, as to what and who told Deluca what. Just like some ITK have stated that SOS was overruled on others and Deluca was selected.
