I think today was a showcase of the Carlton side really beginning to gel as a team. Over previous weeks and last year there have been many changes to our side in many aspects, and now in Round 4 2008 I think its shown that the boys are starting to get a feel for each other, for the game plan, are playing more disciplined and just look more like a team..
This is a young team that will only become closer as they grow together and if they are stick to it like they did today success will come sooner rather than later...

Thoughts?

We're definitely getting there. As to whether today as the 'official' rebirth of the Blues well that's something we will hopefully be in the position to do in a few short weeks or months.

For my part, we still have a ways to go and i still think we've another 4 or 5 personnel changes required to take us to where we want to go. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Our defense finally clicked, and while we didn't smash them in the centre, like we did Essendon, we were competitive enough. Opening up the forward line was a good move, and the flood in defence equally effective.

However, the thing that impressed me the most was the controlling of the tempo at the end of the quarters. You couljd see immediate improvement over the match against Essendon with that action alone.

So well done Ratts! Brilliantly coached - the endeavour has always been there, it was Ratts's work that got us there in the end. :thumbsu:

Our backline was fantastic with all coming out in front of their opponents on the day. Great support from the midfield who did a great job negating their on-ball players influence throughout the game which I though was the major difference between this week and last week. If our onballers can sustain this we will go along in leaps and bounds this year.

Many many positives. But for me the real heros were the backline. Great to see Jarrad, Bowwow, Jammo and TBird were all in the best players. Also Gibbs running through half back with Simpson along the wings was sensational. Of course with Judd being the rock in the last quarter. I thought the gameplan and execution looked better.

But what delighted me the most was how we finished the second and third quarters. You could see there was determination and a plan not to leak late goals. Lets hope this is a watershed game.

Man and how was the voice when the song was sung. The G was roaring!

Yes, Carlton won yesterday because it was a great team effort. It wasn't just Fevola, Judd and your young stars, it was every man out there. It was good - painfully good. But it'll probably make the year more interesting to have a formerly great team back in the game. Enjoy.

No doubt that footy is much the better for a strong Carlton. ;):thumbsu:

So many positives coming out of yesterdays game. But, the couple that really made me sit up and take notice was:

1. Playing for 4 quarters, and not having any real lapses of concentration

2. Our defense working as a team, and really taking the Collingwood forwards out of the game.
