Nominate your favourite chardonnay sipper quotes.

"That number 44 is playing quite well today, what's his name darling?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Person A: "Yes, so we took the children to Margaret River for the day on Friday in the Range Rover and as we were approaching our vineyard..."

Person B: "OH MY GOD THE EAGLES HAVE JUST WON THE PREMIERSHIP WITH A KICK AFTER THE SIREN!!!!!"

Person A: "Yes as I was saying darls, we were approaching the vineyard..."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We were considering buying a corporate box for all the Eagles games, but Regent and I decided that we would prefer to be out here with the real fans!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"That number 24 player is a bit of a rough boy isn't he?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the all time classic and most favoured and desirable chardonnay sipper quote......

"Go Benny!"

My personal favourite:

K's Bombers supporting mate to 'Red Army' member: "Geez, that Chris Judd looks like he's going to be a fantastic player" (after about, round 4 or 5 last year)

Red Army Member: "Chris who?"

I kid you not.

Erm, they aren't the WCE cheer squad.

For some reason or another they are just a group of people sponsored by Carlton Midstrength Beer.

Actually, I'm back in correspondance with my beloved membership & marketing depatments, so, can I have a little feedback?

If there was an area, say a block in on a forward flank, somewhere round there, that was 18+ only, and while you bought memberships for the block, you could sit (or STAND) wherever you wanted. The idea was that you'd be allowed to stand there, without the little red guys (no, the other army, the redcoats) telling you to sit down quietly, and that while it couldn't an 'anything goes' area, the rules would be a bit more reasonable because there'd be no kids or oldies. Passes for mates etc would be available for sale. Would you lot be interested?

Seems to me, that with all our membership packages & options, it the guys in the 20-30 age bracket that miss out. Course it'd be hard to implement I suppose, but if ther interest is there to start with....

Oh, and the red army? Gotta go. Or at least lose the red, and the sponsorship.

Its something I thought would be a great idea for years. Fortunately I hadnt been on the recieving end of many evil looks, but I did notice I wasnt looked upon favorably by chardonnay sippers, and did manage to clear almost an entire row of them directly in front of me(though I think losing seasons under KJ may have helped clear most of them).

There does need to be a section for that age bracket I feel, and I'd be definitely interested...if I still lived in perth :D

Red Army is a waste of space. Especially when the real Cheer Squad is finally starting to look like one - they're even wearing club gear now, rather than that hideous grey Novotel-sponsored garbage...at the very least, Red Army should = Eagle Army.

A sitting/standing room area is actually a really good idea, but it would need to be pretty well policed to prevent the other 40,000 from wandering past and standing around! Would certainly get some extra noise going from the crowd...

I think the Red Army isn't really doing anything either way. They are just a group of people who wear red shirts and jumpers. If they weren't there, the only difference would be, a group of people who wore black/white/cornflour blue/red/pink shirts.

Okay, de low down on the Red Army.

Ye gotta be a passionate Eagles fan to be one

Ye get free entry to the game, a free red shirt each season and four cans of mid free each game.

That's it, no pay, unless you count the four cans.

Do you get banned from entering if you fail to wear the red shirt to the games? Can you buy additional mid to supplement the measly ration of 4 cans per game?

Nah, actually I'll stay where I am, thanks. Mr Q & I have an excellent view, but we can never hear the Red Army.

Incidentally, 3 people were thrown out near us last night, I think for smuggling in something in the coke. One was obviously a bit out of it. And there looked to be a punch-up over below the two-tier stand near the dugout too.

You get a bus ride from Northbridge to the game and without tyhe shirt you don't get on the bus. Mid's are on sale at the ground if you like the stuff.

Yep, there was a nice blue city side of the dugout. Richmond fan got angry and lashed out. He and two Eagles fans were ejected.

The Red Army are more of a paid sponsorship for Carlton Mid - their purpose is to get noticed and for people to buy their beer during and after the game. I often see the Red Army bus outside the Wembley Hotel before/after games - wouldn't be a bad way of getting to watch the Eagles if we sell out the memberships for next year!

I think the Eagles need a 'Grog Squad' - standing & screaming only!

Yeah I was one block over from that. This bloke started belting another bloke at the front, and the cops rushed over. The other guy started bleeding profusely from his forehead and got taken out. Then at the end of the game on the way to the Bill Walker room, he was outside being attended to by the ambo's. Then he came into the Bill Walker room afterwards with his mates, and a nice big bandage on the forehead.
