The Chelsea roller-coaster

Well sure but that's a very simplistic way of looking at it. Yes he's right, selling Gallagher for 40m would off-set year one of 280m of spend spread over 7 years, but the next year you need to expense another 40m, the year after another 40m, etc.
Yeah true, no doubt we've got plenty of people worrying about this stuff.

Not even taking into account next years purchases either so likely higher than 40m in subsequent years.

Just like this year it's not just about their spend this year, but spend from previous years.

Reckon you would sell both Jorginho & Gallagher?
Nah, it'll be one or the other. We've got offers from Newcastle, Everton and Palace but Gallagher wants fight for a spot. No surprise as thats his nature.

If Arsenal offer 15m-ish for Jorginho hes off.

Looking at your transfer figures and the impending new rule on max 5 year amortisation I reckon you will be due for a few quiet summer windows. Must be to comply with FFP.

And ffs your new owners were supposed to be tightwads, not outspend Roman's blood money!

That's how it's always worked for everyone.
It's hard that you look at 600mil window could be possible and they have nothing to worry about

It's mental

And over at Anfield we get Arthur on loan from Juve + 1 year contract extension for James Milner to "bolster" the midfield for this season. All at a time when 2 of the current midfield were out with long term injuries!!

Looks like Chelsea/Arsenal will be the main teams fighting out league titles for the next few years.

Were they?

They've spent a fortune at the Dodgers and part of the sale conditions were to put 1.75 billion back into the club.

Well sure but then it impacts on their ability to spend in the next years.

That's a pretty rough take on it though, it's a lot more complicated than that.

Buys are spread over the first contract and sales are a lump sum kind of.

Not even over the first contract. If Mudryk has an awesome first two years and you end up extending his contract even further, the remainder of his purchase price can be expensed over the new remaining length.

UEFA are also looking at closing that loophole.

The rule should be all player purchases can be amortised over 5 years or length of player contract if less. So any contract extensions under new rules probably won't help with amortisation if UEFA implements it.

With an 8.5 year deal why would Chelsea ever give him a better deal? He is locked in even if he becomes the next Ronaldo. No need to extend when there is 6.5 years remainig!

It was just an example.
