The Chief Has Spoken!

Great news. Another 3 years at the helm. Redevelopment of punt road, maybe a new training facility, oversee the end of this playing era and maybe the appointment of a new coach if Dimma hangs up the boots during that time.

no better executive to see this next period though. Well done.

On the stand rule - I believe it targeted Richmond specifically. We had found a gameplan and system that in its use of role players became less reliant on player skill instead making the most of effort and team coordination. This goes directly against the AFL's equalisation policy as it meant we didn't necessarily need the same amount of talent to be competitive, undermining the value of the draft as a key element of equalisation. Its notable how many rookies are premiership players for Richmond versus Melbourne (there are none). The stand rule was an attempt to rebalance the game towards skill and strengthen the equalisation framework. I think the talk about increasing scoring was secondary or a complete ruse. If it was solely about scoring they would get rid of the stand because it simply didn't increase scoring. This is all the evidence you need to conclude that something else is behind it. Re the media how can you expect to have an independent media if they rely on the AFL for accreditation? Putin would be proud of the AFL's media control. Richmond have upset too many of the AFL snowflakes for Benny to get the CEO gig now. It's a pity because I think he would have brought some integrity back to the many aspects of the game.

Astute observation... :thumbsu:

On game plans: Top 4 teams at end of the H&A season were also top 4 in clearances stat. too. But we have never had such a plan We were last in that stat. About 2/3 of what the Dogs were achieving in a game this season. Nank is one of our best in that area. I think with Soldo back it'll be a big boost compared to Chol & CJ. Scoring has been a problem for us this year. Dimma has to work that out. Thank Hesus we can afford new assistant coaches. I thought the consensus on this board the Stand rule was a Geelong mafia plot. We certainly played a lot of poor football this year. Despite that I think we were still in the 8 or just out until Round 20 or so. Having said that Collingwood dropped the exact same number of spots as us. what were they? collateral damage.
The AFL of course predicted their new rule would revolutionise the game. And of course it did sweet FA. I am not confident Stand has been addresses by our club.

The AFL Equalisation Policy? you for real? You aren't John Elliot are you? The salary cap & draft is footy socialism straight up, no doubt. Means the team that finishes high get low draft picks. No news there. The fact that we are using rookie list players is equivalent to Hawthorn using the regular draft to fill up its player list. Haws luck out with Lake but don't have (m)any rookies playing. The net effect is we can pay and play Dusty & Lynch. lots of rookies may be the result of Lynch & Martin on our list. Good list managent

Hawks had 5 or 6 role players helping Lance too. Spangher, Stratton, LAngford, Dureya, Schoenmakers, Puopolo. The list Melbourne put together is different from Richmonds ~as you'd expect. Finish down the ladder get high draft picks. A bit like what happened to Richmond. Had a bad year get high draft picks. Going into this draft with 7, 16 etc etc
Are you comlaining about our draft hand?

Socialist media too eh?
I certainly believe War is peace, freedom is slavery.
I'm happy that Gale is continuing on at richmond. Can't think of a worse job than AFL football general manager. Give it to Scott See how an ex coach goes. Nekmint all these new rules benefitting Brisbane and north

Great to wake up to news that Chief is going around for another 3 years. Gives confidence that the refresh/rebuild of the list is in good hands knowing that any plan put in place will be adhered to without deviation.

LOL i can't believe a gif of a shark was removed, because someone in the world was recently eaten by a shark - an event i had nfi even happened.

Seriously this world has the sandiest vagina atm
I doubt it had anything to do with the recent event. I also had a meme removed a few years ago simply I think because of the blood in the pic

I have nfi idea what happened in WA on the weekend. No offence, if you are linking a gif on a footy forum to the daily happenstance of the news then that dont make me "stoopid".

The gif is exactly as intended, Benny is smellin' the blood in the water and like a shark, is ready to pounce on his prey. Does me explaining that nuisance of the analogy provide you the comfort of understanding the intended purpose for its use?

If someone makes a joke about cancer after a friend has just passed how do you think you'd feel? Grow up mate and take the feedback as intended.
