Just changing tack here a little from who are we gonna draft and as some sort of relief from the draft errors of the past decade....who TF are we gonna cut. I had this reasonably settled in my mind that we were going to open up 7-8 spaces this year but quite a few, Jackson, Moore are staking late claims.
Soooooo....apart from
Gaspar
Hall
Knobel
Hartigan

who we gonna chop? Also does anyone know what the deal is with Krak re his off field indiscretion and therefore RFC future or is it purely a football decision?

Kingsley is gawn too TT
Jackson was dropped late in the season but was a late recall. Might stay on due to there being others on the chopping block before him.
Personally I think Moore.

with the amount of youth already in our team, I doubt we will be delisting a lot of other players to draft more kids.

Apart from the retirees I would have thought that Hartigan and possibly Howat will be delisted. Krakour, Shulz, Hyde and Meyer will be shopped around to see if anyone has any interest.

Also it depends on whether Gus gets promoted.
I'd say he'd have to unless we orchastrate a trade for a ruckman.
I favour six delistings (five picks in the draft and one in the PSD):
Gaspar
Knobel
Kingsley
Hall
Hartigan
Moore

Howat is already a rookie and I won't lose any sleep if he doesn't get on the list. If Gus gets promoted then we need to find one more for the scrapheap – Krakouer, Meyer, Schulz.
Also, what this reinforces is that we are still two drafts away from clearing out all of the dead wood. If we could sweep a broom through the joint, we would, but we can't. It doesn't work that way.

Sorry tugs.. I knew that....a grey moment..lmao I also agree that Tiv, Hyde and Howat is one too many of the same type and Tiv is obviously teh better one so one of the other 2 looks likely. Not so convinced with Moore as I once was. Had him on the hit list 4 weeks ago for sure but.....

Gasper, Hall, Knobel, Kingsley Gone

Hartigan, Krakouer first on the copping block

Other names that may be axed (in order imo): Moore, Howatt, Meyer, Hyde, Tivendale, Schultz

We need to cut 7 player I reckon: (4 draft picks, 2 PSD + add King to the senior) + 1/2 new rookies

There's no way known we'll take 2 in the PSD. There's generally no more than 5-7 players taken in the PSD as a whole, let alone us taking 2. I also think we'll take 5 in the draft. Would be crazy not to take a crack at pick 50, in addition to 2, 18, 19, 34.
Graham to be retained as a 2nd year rookie, probably Clingan too.
King will probably be promoted.

this was grahams second year;)

I wouldn't write off Hartigan yet. Ok we may delist him but I think he still has an AFL carreer to look forward too.
Hope we keep him, and not end up another Rodan.

I've been talking up harts for a couple of years, but he's constantly injured and I think he will be the first to be delisted

i would have thought with,

hall
knobel
kingsley
and gasper already gone.

our biggest under achievers in the team have been.

hartigan
krakour
p.bowden ??
jackson
shultz
hyde
maybe howat??

i think the biggest sure fire would have to be krakour and knowing our luck he'll go to a different club and succeed.

what is the max we can delist?

when I saw the title for this thread I immediately thought of the unruly crowd behaviour at an archery contest in sherwood forest during "robin hood: men in tights":D:cool:

There's no actual limit. But realistically you couldn't add more than about 7-8 players per year, so that'd be about it.
Maybe:
- 5 draft picks
- 2 rookie upgrades
- 1 PSD pick

No matter how good you select 'em, you still end up with fresh dead wood from the majority of draft years tugga.

BTW, Jackson was 'dropped' to qualify for Coburg finals.

Tivendale's also the oldest TT...could be a factor.

I think we'll get rid of Krak and Hartigan for certain, but we need to cut a fair bit deeper than that. I'd dump Howat and Tivendale as well, giving us 5 draft picks plus 1 PSD selection, plus King and Graham upgraded. Moore was at the head of my list, but we really can't afford to lose him after Hall's retirement.

Going to be an interesting off-season.

Yes but he is also easily the best and most consistent of him, Hyde and Howat. Despite his scapegoat status has had 2 reasonable seasons.

I will interested to take another look at this thread if Coburg get it in the neck on Sunday. It is becoming a week to week proposition

It's mainly the fact that his role can be filled by a junior player who can step right into it TT. He's not an in and under midfielder, he doesn't do any 'tough' stuff for the team and use his mature body to any advantage, he's not a workhorse runner, he always plays loose of an opponent and he's not a prolific possession winner - especially when you consider how many times he gets 2-3 in 20secs of play.

He's 29 in April...where does playing him for another 2-3 years get us in the long run? In that time we could develop a player who gets Tivendale's 18-19 possessions and gives us more in other areas.

Keeping Hyde instead gives us a bit of experienced depth to cover another 4-6 years - if he's required that long.

It's one of those Kellaway type list decisions - getting rid of a bloke who has maybe a couple of average years left, but plays a role that a junior can step into without any great detriment to the team.

Not that I rate Tivendale in the same class as Kellaway, but it's a similar case.
