Gone at the end of the year cho cho
That's the really nagging thing for me......who would come in?

At the ground on Sat night,I said to the group that with the footy forum I'm in …..most want Richo out......you should have seen the looks on their faces...….a big "why" was painted on their faces.

None of them are on BigFooty...lol.

Almost as a chorus they said.."ok...replaced by who".

They all believe it's the lack of talent …..and to a point I agree.

But it comes back to that nagging question....who?

I hate other teams!
I'm not too worried if they replace the assistants, the head coach is a figure head, the assistants take a lot of control these days and I don't mind having Richo as a puppet dictator while the real power brokers let him have a shiny badge and a big boys chair.
It worries me because head coach should be chief motivator & mentor.

Mentoring he is probably good at - everyone be a vanilla campaigner.

Motivator - crack in with pressure boys. Pressure!!!

Doesn’t strike me as the sort of guy that would get you in a state of mind to charge the German trenches WWI style. Every coach in the top 8 is or was a dead set angry campaigner that would deadset kill to win (except for GWS with Cameron - probably why they always underachieve)

Watching 360 for the first time in months. Richo praising the start & finish to the game. He literally has no idea.
Did I really hear him say on there that 7-2 scoring shots in our favour in the 4th quarter indicates that his message at 3 quarter time got through to the players?!

F*** off Richo. Bloke has been totally exposed this year as a fraud of a senior coach.

Look at what has happened every time he's moved Carlisle either up forward or as was the case on the weekend into the ruck, our defence goes to complete shit. Essentially an elite 200cm intercept marking defender with great skills for the rebound is the only thing stopping his defensive system from being a complete disaster.

In his post game presser Saturday night he bashed the midfield for getting smashed in the 3rd quarter which lost us the game. Meanwhile Seb Ross had I think 20 disposals and 3 goals from the midfield at half time, and then Richo stuck him behind the ball in the 3rd when they got a run on. So you're not happy with the midfield but you move the midfielder who was BOG up till then into defence, yeah righto that makes heaps of sense. And while I think Armo is pretty close to cooked, Richo has completely stuffed him around this year. Either play him as an inside mid or leave him in the two's FFS, it's so obvious. Richo put him up forward for a couple weeks where he had consecutive 8 disposal games, dud move. Drops him for a few then he comes back in as a mid and plays 4 straight quality games (we won 3/4) then has a quieter one, gets dropped, doesn't play VFL, gets recalled the week after and gets stuck on a HBF. Armo with no speed/agility and average skills playing HBF, bloody hell. Don't even get me started on Newnes, who has been disgustingly bad in all facets and gets a gig every week. Team selection has been awful nearly every single week, no integrity whatsoever.

I don't know if they reckon Geary needs to have a bigger role now that he's captain or what, but you can't turn a Corolla into a Ferrari. As the back pocket who locks down on the best small forwards, cracks in hard, and gives his all he was damn good despite his average skills. Now we look to be getting the ball in his hands as much as possible, why on earth is he running passed blokes who have taken the mark for the handball receive? He's averaging 21 disposals a game this year, last two years he's averaged 15-16. Either we've bizarrely identified him as a key ball user for us, or oppo coaches are happy to leave him free to get the ball because they know he isn't going to hurt them with it and Richo hasn't clued on.

Our key forwards haven't been put into a position to succeed all year, every week in our games one of the commentators (Brown on the weekend) will say they'd hate to be a key forward for St Kilda. MG mentioned the Cats game earlier, that was the real eye opener for me at how inept this guy is. I felt so sorry for Paddy that game getting the ball sat on his head in a 1 v 2 or 3 all day while his coach does nothing about it, he actually played really well that day considering the circumstances and got no credit for it.

I could rant for hours on some of this stuff, starting to get pretty fed up now tbh and I'm more patient than most. I am one of the (perhaps delusional) ones that is still quite buoyant about this playing list and think that with the right tweaking, recruitment and development we are going to be good down the line. But I fear that Richo and his ways is doing irreparable damage to some of these players and if he stays for another year or two then it's just going to get worse. Of course it's not all his fault, but as senior coach the buck stops with him and if we keep him on beyond this year we're just accepting mediocrity.

Where on earth has all this positivity from you come from? What has changed from this tweet earlier in the season to get you positive? If anything it has gotten worse

Oh well, it was a good tweet at the time.
Let's be honest, Richo's not getting sacked so we should support the club. Lethlean is dealing out jobs for his mates he boozes with at his kids primary school, and now is after his good mates son from Sydney. At least something is happening! We love our club, why suggest to members they should try and drive it into the ground? That's the definition of madness.

May Alan Richardson: "i've moved to the bench because i find i can give direct instant feedback as players come off the ground. i'm right there. there's no delay with comms. i don't rely on a runner getting the message wrong"
August Alan Richardson: "the players are playing for me, look you can see after i delivered the message to them at 3 qtr time they responded"

Slobbo too drunk to join the dots on that mother ******* sales job

But Alan I thought you said... you know what. don't worry about it. great job! really got them going!

All of our small forwards had time on JJ but none in a defensive role until the last quarter when Coff went onto him for a while. It may have just been the kid's footy intellect but he seemed to pay more defensive attention to JJ.

Not sure Spotty Dopey noticed JJ's 41 touches and 4500km gained though o_O

Was screaming at the bench at half time that JJ had 19 .

Really listened to me in 3rd quarter tore us up more.

Just amazed that a guy with Richardson’s experience , Sexton’s experience in football , is so clueless
when sides get on top it’s a runaway train many times 6-7 goals in row .
Would love to see the stats over the last 5 years , would be damning, know Amateur Football coaches
who have better undertanding of the game ....and I am serious.

And this point is exactly why I have a feeling that Billings & Acres will request a trade at years end.

Blake last 2 weeks have been awful, but in these 2 games, lets have a look at what he's been asked to do:
- half forward
- key forward
- wing
- midfield
- relief ruckman
- half back flank
- centre half back (when Carlisle went into the ruck)

Now, sure, injuries forced some of those changes in the Doggies game just gone, but FMD, it's not realistic to expect a bloke to play well when he has 7 roles in 2 games coming back from a 9 week injury spell. The injuries in the Doggies game clearly showed that we completely ****ed up at the selection table & that's 100% on the coaches. We're a very poor team, so as a rule we should go back to the bare basics of set up:

- 6 forwards (2 KPs with 1 being a resting ruck; 2 crumbers - high & low; 1 creative half forward; 1 mid size marking forward)
- 6 mids (ruckman; 2 rovers - 1 of them possibly in a run with role; 1 centreman; 2 wings)
- 6 defenders (2 KPs; 1 medium defender; 1 interceptor to roll off; 1 small defensive oriented type; 1 attacking HBFer)

Further to this, blind freddy can see over the last 4 years that our forward line functions best when there is 2 key talls & then Membrey, but we seem to have this fascination that we need to go small because Richmond & the Dogs won flags by going small. This makes no sense - we are no where near a flag... we're nowhere near finals even. Dont copy another team & try to force something to work, use what works best for the group & develop it accordingly. Coach the team to lower the eyes & hit up a lead. If its congested down there, get the smalls out of there like all the top 8 teams do & have the smalls run I50 with the flight of the ball to the leading player who is more likely to take a mark because we've created space for him. If the ball then hits the deck from a spoil, the crumbers are there ready with more space around them as well. It's not rocket science. Stop the low % hot spot kick.... It's been 3-4 year of doing it & the results speak for themselves - teams just wait for it & pick it off!

Our backline has always functions best when we have either of Savage, Webster or Robbo get loose & use their footy nous or kicking ability to set up play going forward. Since Robbo has had his heart issue, our backline has been changed up to allow Geary to be the loose in defence & be the man to set up our forward thrusts. Honestly, which idiot came up with that idea FFS?! The one bloke who is an absolute liability by foot & has very average footy smarts should not be anywhere near this role.

As for our midfield. You see at a stoppage, we gain possession & its a quick handball backwards to a stationary player, who is under the pump, who then handballs back again to another stationary player. Where is the forward movement? Where are the runners charging in waves? We are so predictable & opposition teams thrive on this. To be blunt, we do it on a budget, because we know that somewhere along that chain, it will breakdown with a turnover & we'll be burnt the other way, so we try to keep some protection.

Go back to basics for the last 3 games. Get moving, take risks, play on instinct & gut feel. Pick blokes that can actually hit a target by foot & kick a goal FFS!
Managed to stay away from this thread completely until August. The weekend broke me and I decided to have a read, start to end.

Reading this through I realised that I can actually pinpoint the specific day I lost faith in the way this team was being coached, and more importantly, the way this list is being developed. North game - Round 2 this year. Lets park the fact that it was one of the most insipid performances by a St.Kilda team that I have ever seen (yes I went to Moorabbin too).

Round 2 this year I watched Richo start Hunter Clarke (our 18yo pick 7 mid) deep in the forward line as a defensive forward (fair enough). Hunter then spent the next quarter and a half rotating between the wing and high half forward, while pushing up into stoppages (a bit adventurous in game 2, but lets give him some exposure. Sure I get the logic). Then when we were 10 goals down (in the last quarter) he switched Hunter to play off half back where the ball was camped (unsurprisingly he and got caught holding the ball more than a couple of times). Then Clarke was dropped the following week (and it was cited that he didn't play his role sufficiently well). What the actual F**K!!

The kid is 18 and in his second game. Exposing him to that type of unpredictability goes against everything that master coaches like Clarkson or Bellamy say about introducing young players. They have a system, and any player who comes in (especially a young player) is given a clearly defined role and told to keep it simple.

For a coach who's strength is supposedly the development of young players, that was indefensible. If it were up to me, I would have sacked him on the spot. That decision just demonstrated that as soon as Richo is being outcoached (by Brad Scott no less), he is willing to throw anyone (including the most vulnerable player on our team) under a bus.

Can argue the treatment of players like Acres has been worse overall (see the above very good analysis), but to screw an 18yo like that was just appalling and for me that showed he is not the man to take us forward!

I’m only 25, but I certainly can’t recall our supporter base being as angry and disenchanted as they are now. I certainly feel this.

I want to ask the older supporters about the times during the Watson/blight years as I was too young to really remember. Is this period worse than then? Do you guys feel more angry and lost at what the club is doing?
Have never ever seen supporters as angry.

People were more shocked & disappointed when Blight got the arse.

Watson? From memory, it was a bit of ‘resume usual programming’ amongst supporters.

Playing finals in 91/92 & then 97/98 were aberrations to many of us who had only known the 80’s & mid 90’s. We still had stars, and the opportunity to build through the draft (and the 2000 off season was awesome with the trades Waldron pulled off).

This time it’s very different. A growing feeling of dread that the 7 year in the bottom 8 abyss will stretch well over a decade. My son was born in 2010, loves his Saints but we’ve been sh1thouse for his whole life. Kids are different these days, swapping teams is no big deal. I’d be heartbroken but who I am to make him live through the pain of constant mismanagement with no hope of ever seeing a flag.

Ok how about this in the NRL, Penrith Panthers currently in 5th spot 4 weeks out from the finals sack their coach Anthony Griffin, why? ..... “It's understood Penrith have made the decision to part ways with Griffin because of a belief he would have been unable to take the club to the level required to win a premiership.”

Now that took balls, over to you St Kilda, do you have the balls?

Edit: looks like I’m a bit late in posting this, bloody typical

Penrith are and always have been a joke.

And when do we take the lead from that friggen sport?

He's probably smarter and funnier than Fred Bassett. Filthy rich. Co-founder of SEEK.com. With his brother. Currently on the board, which doesn't fill me with optimism. Worth about 300 million.
It's been reported this evening...Linking him with taking over the presidency at the end of this year!

Currently on the board, so no new ticket as they say!

What a bunch masochistic campaigners you people are for watching 360 and expecting a different result.

Not enough pain this year? Is that it?
Considering most of what these Kent's wrote was unmitigated Bullshit.

They gave a right to want him gone, SO DO I, but the personal abuse and lies being posted is frankly disgusting.

None of them would have the balls to say these things to him face to face.

Pretty cowardly tonight.
