Laughable. The drop off started half way through the 2nd quarter though. I wrote as much in the game day thread where they kicked 2.1 straight & the dimension of the game changed in their favour.... My exact words at 8.18pm were: “I have a really bad feeling about this game now”

campaigner is a fraud
Absolutely correct. At 7:05 in 2Q we lead 39-11. By HT we lead 46-42. They out scored us 31-7 for the remainder of the quarter.

The rot set in from the 14min mark when Jong kicked their second goal. By HT the dye was cast.

He’s selling snake oil.

I'm pretty sure the Sicilians have some dirty laundry in their ancient past too.
Why do you think I love the GOAT?

TBF to the malakas, Sicily was occupied by the Greeks.

But when the Italians invaded and introduced sex to the female populace, the Greeks gave up and moved to Mykonos...

You guys need to relax.

My advice. Take up soccer for the next 10 months.

Leeds start tonight. Just another way to disappoint yourself before you have to worry about the saints :)
I've just been catching up on the posts but man o man....….the pack is running and running fast on here.

Breathtaking is the word I'd use.

I'm a Liverpool man myself.....with Leeds my second fav club.

Following Liverpool over the last 20 years is like following the Saints....disappointment city.

Managed to stay away from this thread completely until August. The weekend broke me and I decided to have a read, start to end.

Reading this through I realised that I can actually pinpoint the specific day I lost faith in the way this team was being coached, and more importantly, the way this list is being developed. North game - Round 2 this year. Lets park the fact that it was one of the most insipid performances by a St.Kilda team that I have ever seen (yes I went to Moorabbin too).

Round 2 this year I watched Richo start Hunter Clarke (our 18yo pick 7 mid) deep in the forward line as a defensive forward (fair enough). Hunter then spent the next quarter and a half rotating between the wing and high half forward, while pushing up into stoppages (a bit adventurous in game 2, but lets give him some exposure. Sure I get the logic). Then when we were 10 goals down (in the last quarter) he switched Hunter to play off half back where the ball was camped (unsurprisingly he and got caught holding the ball more than a couple of times). Then Clarke was dropped the following week (and it was cited that he didn't play his role sufficiently well). What the actual F**K!!

The kid is 18 and in his second game. Exposing him to that type of unpredictability goes against everything that master coaches like Clarkson or Bellamy say about introducing young players. They have a system, and any player who comes in (especially a young player) is given a clearly defined role and told to keep it simple.

For a coach who's strength is supposedly the development of young players, that was indefensible. If it were up to me, I would have sacked him on the spot. That decision just demonstrated that as soon as Richo is being outcoached (by Brad Scott no less), he is willing to throw anyone (including the most vulnerable player on our team) under a bus.

Can argue the treatment of players like Acres has been worse overall (see the above very good analysis), but to screw an 18yo like that was just appalling and for me that showed he is not the man to take us forward!
Been a major failure of the club for 15 years actually.
That’s why the Cats & Swans have maintained being competitive they bring in a young player surround them
with experience , guide them thru the pressure of the game.
Heard Corey Enright talk about it one day , said when new player goes out on the ground , the senior players
go out of their way to make sure that player is given the ball very early in the game.
When they do a tackle or a block they are quickly acknowledged by the senior players verbally encouraged.

It worries me because head coach should be chief motivator & mentor.

Mentoring he is probably good at - everyone be a vanilla campaigner.

Motivator - crack in with pressure boys. Pressure!!!

Doesn’t strike me as the sort of guy that would get you in a state of mind to charge the German trenches WWI style. Every coach in the top 8 is or was a dead set angry campaigner that would deadset kill to win (except for GWS with Cameron - probably why they always underachieve)

I'm not so sure there is a lot of the ra ra stuff going on these days. They might sit down before the match and talk about significant milestones and stuff but the players are expected to remember all the strategy stuff that's been worked on during the week and just go out and play. As long as he's just out there doing the front of house stuff and strategists and line coaches run a lot of the other stuff, it will make him too uncomfortable to stay on or will mean he can just go around doing his AFL 360 performances and Holman's coaches message while the assistants go to work.

Considering most of what these Kent's wrote was unmitigated Bullshit.

They gave a right to want him gone, SO DO I, but the personal abuse and lies being posted is frankly disgusting.

None of them would have the balls to say these things to him face to face.

Pretty cowardly tonight.

Only because he'd verbally bore them to death rather than punch them though.

Ironically, if you posted shit like that directly at a poster they'd likely to squealing to the mods. Be called a bully and so on.

It's not as if Richo is human, a father or has a family of anything like that...

The petulance is amazing...

Seriously think some people have blurred the line between honest discussion and silliness.

I now expect a certain poster to tell me off about beingvthe conscience of the forum blah blah blah.

I think they have just worked out that venting is cathartic. You should try it, it feels quite good, I get pissed-off then calm down afterwards. It's seriously frustrating times, at junior footy I had a Richmond supporter telling me how irrelevant and shitful our club is, he's totally forgotten the last 20 years. I had to deal with the Dogs supporter dad telling me how young and inexperienced they were. I had texts from smart arse mates reminding me of my tough talk when their teams were shit. It's a horrible time, we are stuck with Richo for now but we can at least abuse him if we can't sack him.

You do know by smugly pointing out your own moral superiority you convince nobody but yourselves of your rightness. George made a much better show of actually reminding people to put the pitchforks down and go back to work with his sensible un-emotive posts.

Nah not really.

Stupid is stupid IMO.

Truth is truth.

Not about moral superiority. Just pointing out the obvious.

If you see that as pointing out moral superiority then that's up to you. Don't care really.

Would be interested to hear your views if stuff like this was being pointed to one of your kids.

Joffa made a post and I replied to him.

Some of the comments have been ott. Not sensible discussion.

Funny that you would have a go at me about it, yet it's OK to make personal abuse towards an individual.

Probably because you do it yourself with your nastiness towards Trout.

Probably says more about your moral compass.

But thanks for looking out for me. Let's move on because I'm not here to argue.

Cheers

The Saints coach was at a loss to explain his team's lack of fight.

"I don't know the reason but I know the solution will be to challenge those players strongly and continue to drive them to improve and grow as leaders," he said.

Lets tale another look
"I don't know the reason but I know the solution will be to challenge those players strongly"

"I don't know the reason but I know the solution"
I've kept on the sidelines with the Richo debate but that's just plain baffling and alarming.

Fairy floss stuff of the highest order!
