That's OK.

We can lend them Roos for a year and then they can have a succession plan for Mitchell.

Win - win
I’m not a fan of Roos taking over as coach and I doubt he’d want to come back in an administrative role.

Perhaps the whispers about Roos are averting our eyes from an option in another direction.

Richardson is finished though. I think he’ll be given the option to coach out the year, whether he wants to will be the issue.

The thing with Richo at the moment is that the longer the team plays with so little confidence, it doesn't become about whether he is a good coach or not, it becomes a reality that he isn't the right coach for this group of players.

Probably we have overrated the list but there are so many players playing below themselves at the moment and if Richo can't get them to play nearer their best then he has to go. Richo basically needs a win desperately to ease some pressure, unfortunately we're playing arguably the best three teams in the comp over the next three weeks.

Paul Roos Director of Coaching behind Caracella.
Or do exactly what he did at Melbourne.. Roos coach for a year or two with Caracella under him for that time. Succession plan.

People may not like Roos - they didn’t at Melbourne, but his results simply speak for itself. Premiership coach and proven rebuild/restructure expert with Melbourne.

Quite frankly I’d be over the moon to have have someone of his capability at the helm.

Biggest overrated fraud in football

Just smacks of Blight. Guy who's retired and not interested. Summers will be our coach in 6 months.

Starting to feel sorry for the poor bugger. I am the first to champion he is out of his depth, but I hate seeing him go down like this.
Yeah it was quite uncomfortable to watch, he’s struggling a bit for sure.

Fair play to him for fronting up, I’d be chucking a Tom Hickey and staying at home in the foetal position.

Mitchell might be more inclined to go the succession plan that will guarantee him a the head job in year 3. Plus the opportunity to apprentice under another top coach outside the hawks circle of coaches.
I reckon he'd jump at that opportunity. Gives Roos a couple years to sort out the list for him too.
Caracella may not be inclined to do that, he's a senior assistant and generally considered next in line anyway.

Probably right.. but that’s why I like the Roos idea. It gives him the chance to groom whoever he sees as a great successor.. or if we are in fact closer than we think, the chance to coach another finals side and handover when ready..

Soooooo..... can’t find it but what exactly did Summers day? And where did this Roos stuff come from?

Regardless of if Summers is setting AR up to fail because he has a replacement or because he is feeling board pressure the result is the same.
In my experience this is the easiest way to force an exit of a leader. Will get ugly before he goes once the players and assistants figure it out. Or maybe we are there now....

I would spew I reckon.
After 2 minutes to digest it, sounds like a good rumour to spread if you want Richo to stay on as coach. People think about it, say no thanks I wanna spew, and all of a sudden we think Richo is not as bad as we thought, and let's keep him on for the moment until the young replacement becomes available in a year or so.

Just not sure if it is Richo who might have started the rumour or the board.

FWIW, what length contract does Beveridge have at the Dogs.

Norm Smith was the AFL Coach of the Century. Starting at Fitzroy then guiding Melbourne to be the powerhouse of the 50s and early 60s for six flags, including 7 grand finals in a row and 8 in total.

But his reputation became legendary after he took over perennial battlers South Melbourne and guided them into the ‘final four’ in 1970.
His genius was to take a take of team of battlers with a few stars and mould them, and the club, into a powerful unit. Poor health cut Smith down from 1971.

Maybe I’m wrong, but if Clarkson could take us to the holy grail I reckon he would surpass Smith. Such a prospect may appeal to him, especially with him living Bayside. The work/life balance would be also good for him.

He doesn’t have anything else to prove at the Hawks. Unless we ask the question we’ll never know.
We gave Hawks our only premiership coach so about time he returned the favour. Mind you, my old man reckons Jeans cost us/Hawks flags rather than gained.

Trust me I don't want Richo sticking around. If the other news I heard is true than leathlan is already conducting his reviews and change is coming unless something stupid happens like we win every game here out.

Yeah sounds like Richo is gonski then. I said at some point the board will lance him to save themselves. Poor old Richo, he was a good fella, just not a great modern day senior coach.

I was just joking. Happy to hear any news/rumours of rumblings/movement afoot. Good to hear Lethlean muscling up.

Ok, getting sick of this whole rotating coach thingy....it never worked for the captaincy
so can we once and for all stop ******* about
I actually disagree that it never worked for the captaincy and from what iv heard most of the playing group at that time would too. Apparently it was extremely effective at getting our on field leaders to really step up.

As for the rotating coach Richo has been in for 5 years and is signed for two more. If he goes at the end of the year i wouldn't consider that detrimental to our playing group that they're playing under too many coaches. Most have only ever played under him anyway.
