Trust me I don't want Richo sticking around. If the other news I heard is true than leathlan is already conducting his reviews and change is coming unless something stupid happens like we win every game here out.
Surely Richo doesn't last to the bye.

ST KILDA coach Alan Richardson has brushed off concerns surrounding his coaching future, despite his side sitting with just one win from nine games this season.

Club chairman Peter Summers publicly backed Richardson on radio on Saturday and said he expected the Saints, who currently sit 16th on the ladder, to be competing for a top-four spot.

"We set some very ambitious goals and we don’t back away from those at all, but I think where we’re at right now is a reflection of not meeting our capabilities more than setting expectations that are beyond those capabilities," Summers said on SEN.

Richardson clarified Summers' comments while speaking on Fox Footy.

"I think what's really important is we put it in context and that is the words 'consistency' and 'potential' are really strong in what Peter had to say," Richardson said.

"That is, if we can become a much more consistent footy team – and I've said as much on this show – we'll end up being a really good footy team. And that’s a challenge as a coaching and playing group to be that.

"We're clearly not at the moment and we're a pretty ordinary team based on our inability to be consistent."

Richardson said he wasn't concerned about questions being asked about his coaching future.

"I like the fact our chairman has high expectations of our footy club and of our playing group. We all acknowledge we're not performing anywhere near that level at the minute and everyone is working their backsides off to make sure we get there,” he said.

"All my energy is about fixing our game and becoming much more consistent. The weekend's game (a 28-point loss to Collingwood) is a good example.

"[We had] three really competitive quarters and a quarter when we weren't able to maximise our opportunities. If you look at our numbers and saw our game you'd agree with that. There's parts that are heading the right way, there's areas we still need to work on."

St Kilda will get a chance to record its second win for the season against reigning premier Richmond at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

I don't agree that we are inconsistent. We are very consistent with what we dish up at present.

Was thinking the same thing, we are very consistent.
Agree I think it was the wrong choice of phrase. A boring safe way of saying we are crap, out of form and capable of way better.

It actually doesn’t make sense, if we can become more consistent we will become a really good team?

No, if we become consistently really good then we will become a really good team.

Did Summers actually use the word ‘consistency’ anyway? Because the word I keep reading is ‘capability’ which makes way more sense.

Gold Coast could be the straw that breaks the Camel’s back. Lose that and we’ll be 1-1-11. Difficult to see him surviving that.
Well based on the last 3 seasons we are going to need 15 to 16 wins to make top 4 and meet Summer’s expectations of where our list is at.

So if we win every game between now and the end of round 23 we can do it.

I know the club sticking by their "plan" is them trying to show some solidarity in a tough situation but every time they come out and say we should be this and we should be that it just makes them look even more stupid.

People WILL understand if they came out and just said that we are way off it but are working our backsides off to turn it around. Constantly talking up a playing list for a top four finish when you're sitting 1-7-1 seems stupid to me.

That's not really what was said though, it's getting taken out of context. I'm not really sure what else they are meant to say, every week they say that we're training really well and working hard, Mav even said on SEN last week theres not much more they can do training wise to rectify the goal kicking.
It would look incredibly unprofessional and open up a can of worms if the CEO & President came out and said otherwise.
I think the reason why everyone is so annoyed is because of the progression of this side over the last few years shows we have talent, we had every right to aim high at the start of the year.

Seems incredibly unprofessional to think we are a top four side too. They need to can those grandiose statements it does nothing for anyone and when they don't deliver (like this year) supporters turn away.

In Perth atm and Richo 360 segment about to start.
Already feeling for him and it hasn't started yet.

To be totally honest, I reckon he's a very genuine nice guy. Sad to see the path this is going down and the current situation is our admin's fault more than Richo's. They should have seen enough to not sign that contract extension at an unnecessary time.

Well again it was out of context, he was saying that was the aim at the start of the year if we were playing consistently and good footy. Pretty much the whole club said as much at the start of the year and that we ‘expected’ to play finals. Even when our blueprint was sent out a few years ago this was the year we started to challenge. It’s obviuusly gone completely wrong so where do we go from here? We need to write this year off and just pump some games into Austin, Dmac, White, Patton, Goddard ect and just see who’s up to it IMO. We’re 1-9 so can’t see how it gets much worse.

Old management consulting theory fish rots from the head first.
Other thing is watching NFL interview of head coaches of successful superbowl teams they all state categorically get the right/best people around you.
They learnt this after being sacked the first time al la Bill Parcels. You want me to win you a bowl then I do it my way or not at all and with my team....they are the rules take it or leave it. No compromise.

You cannot go from contending for finals one year to bottom the next without something changing....steady as she goes this year was just an anomaly will just not happen.
Saying that Richo is fine and the assistants are not good enough and not giving him enough inspiration is plainly illogical. That's why you have a leader buck stops with him. Changing assistants is shuffling chairs on the Titanic ffs.
Would love the Stkilda board to say we will stay with our coaching team for the sake of stability ahhh folks how unstable are we now....no one of any ability would consider us...we would be a laughing stock.
Change must happen for no other reason than in what alternate universe is going backwards acceptable.
Richo on the bench the last few weeks and in my view the positive way he handled Marshall tells me that he is as we always knew a great developer and teacher maybe just not the hard arsed head coach al la Sheedy Matthews or Malthouse.
Need to change coach otherwise club could seriously implode and we will never attract sponsors or the right players to make us contenders again.
Keep list and get a new coaching panel after serious external review makes it clear where issues within club lie.

360 is interesting... that extended silence after the whatley questioning spoke volumes.
AR is spouting the party line but the frustration is clearly there. He knows he’s a dead man walking imo.
If Clarko is available throw everything at him and give him whatever he wants. He’s the closest thing we have to a Bill Belicheck with the results to back it up.
We need stability, confidence and some clear leadership.
