Didn't the Pies have Brad Dick, Luke Ball, Shannon Cox and Tyson Goldsack at one point?

Yes, and as another poster pointed out I forgot Johnson, Wood and Sidebottom who were all around at the time.

Definitely win the male genital name award.

Here's the thing about Oliver
His strengths are amazing
He is the best clearance player at Melbourne by a mile including Viney. Viney will win a 50/50 through determination but when Oliver puts his hands out the footy sticks and then like cripps no matter how the opposition tries to tackle him he manages to get his arms free and then find a team mate. His hand balls also almost always go to the advantage of a team mate and lead to a clearance. I've never seen a Melbourne player so consistently clean in the contest

However he is stuck in a one track mind of get ball and pass to someone close who can kick. I think our coaches love it because we set up with numbers behind the stoppage and we actually plan to flick it around before we move forward. We have turned it over a lot bombing it forward from clearances because our forwards come at the stoppage for a hit up and get caught out when it goes over there head

He doesn't kick it enough, he really needs to add that to his game to move into the competition elite

He's an elite stoppage player but that's it, he's actually got good burst speed so if he can burst out of the front of clearances and start hitting lead up forwards watch out

Still exciting as a Dees fan because we haven't had a gun player since Neitz was AA and won the Coleman and the OX burst onto the scene

He's good, but he's no Hipwood.
Perhaps someone should start a thread where opinions on the likes of Oliver and Hipwood can be discussed tidily.

Brayden Fiorini in his first 6 games has averaged 21 disposals...

The next Clayton Oliver perhaps?
Get back to me if he's still doing it in 13 games

Clayton Oliver - A perfect example as to why other sports don't try to quantify how many times you touch the ball as an indication as to how good you are as a player.

ONE Contested Mark for the entire season. ONE Mark Inside 50 for the entire season. ZERO Goals for the entire season.

Gets alot of it, does F*ck All with it.

Does he need to kick goals?

Seriously?

Sam Mitchell didnt kick many goals, is he a spud too?

That's wrong. That's like saying Sam Mitchell has no impact because he doesn't kick goals or take marks. Olivers role is purely as a stoppage player at the moment.

Sam Mitchell is Sam Mitchell. He doesn't need to kick goals and mark the ball because his field vision and play-making is some of the best we have ever seen. Super creative, super reliable.

Oliver just picks up the ball and handballs it to someone else to use it. He doesn't break the game open, he doesn't put pressure on the defense.

Again, thank you for illustrating why Olivers stats are misleading, because he clearly is no Sam Mitchell yet his stats suggest he is.

The masturbation from Melbourne fans is getting out of control.

You'd think after Sylvia, McLean, Morton, Grimes, Watts, Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Tapscott, Toumpas etc. they'd STFU.

Still, with the amount of top 10 picks they've had it's about time they unearthed a decent one.

2015: 4, 9
2014: 2 + gifted 3 for Frawley
2013: 9 (traded 2 & Tyson who was 2011 pick 2 to get it)
2012: 4 + Mini Draft 2 (traded over the odds Scully compo 3 & 14 to get it) + gifted Viney at 26
2011: traded 12 for magic beans (Clark)
2010: 12 (return of 0 AFL games)
2009: 1, 2, 11
2008: 1
2007: 4
