Senior Coach - Cresswell
Defense Coach - McCartney
Midfield Coach - Ratten or Voss
Forwards Coach - Longmire
VFL Coach - Tudor.

Looks pretty good to me. Longmire, Pyke and McKenna would be the 3 other potential targets for senior coach IMHO.

Based on what????

What are the facts you are relying on to make this assessment??

What actual knowledge do you bring to the table to be able to propose this course of action.

Give me some actual evidence - a fact based proposal that justifies these statements. Otherwise this is speculation pure and simple. I don't want this list wasted on SPECULATION.

What are you on about?

I don't think it was meant to be anything other than speculation. He is a supporter on a supporters website. That is all he needs to be to propose new coaches. Who gives a crap about what you "want".

A forum is where fans can be armchair experts, if you don't like it then tuff

Pretty sure he is the midfield coach. They have developed Justin Sherman very well this year I thought.

Nah i think you'll find he is their forward coach. I was surprised with this as well. I don't think he is the answer as well. He won't come abck to Geelong so can we get it out of our head that he wont be coming back. Also we have to axe lovellwasnt even suppose to be a coach in the seniors. Wasnt he meant to be the VFL coach, but then Cresswell left to Brisbane and we had to get him to coach the mid-field.

Personally I would let Thompson have the final year of his contract but would get in new assistant coaches. Give Thompson to the split rould to have the team in the top 4 or 6 and if not make it clear Geelong will be looking for a new coach. Anything less than prelim next year and he goes though.

Would like to see Cresswell coach if Thompson goes, by the way.

On the Footy Show tonight Billy Brownless reckoned Thompson is safe. During the week Dwayne Russell reckoned he was gone. Gee I hope Dwayne is right for once:(

Last game of the year. Wouldn't you reckon you'd be giving a few recruits a try out. Why only Ryan Gamble?

I've re-read the thread and I can't see which rookies you believe should play and why.

Perhaps I've missed it.

I also read your comprehensive analysis on possible coaches - "Lovett hasn't come up so replace him with Ratten" That's in depth.

Sorry. I thought it was the coaching position to which you were referring.

Perhaps mistakenly, I figured those that post here actually see Cat games.;) Lovell [my spelling error earlier] is the midfield coach and it's the area where we've been consistently out coached. The most telling example was the West Coast game where we held a commanding lead only to be over run. And it was the midfield where we got really smashed in the second half. Daniel Kerr got posssession after possession [over 40 on the day] most of them uncontested.

Ratten was as good a midfielder as was going around in his time. Daniher rated him during his short stay at Melbourne and he has since been coaching successfully in the country. Including coaching the Vic country side.

Again, I figured Cat fans would have followed the VFL side. Those who have would reckon that Todd Grima and Nick Batchelor were worth a try at AFL level to see if they can cut it. Even Travis Varcoe, though his form hasn't great. What is there to lose. Maybe Thommo is more concerned with holding the job.

Why in god's name would you want McKenna. When he was coaching Claremont over here, we couldn't wait to get rid of him.

There's also the small matter of the VFL side playing in the finals. Maybe Bomber and the coaching staff have figured having the younger players, like Varcoe, Grima etc. play some finals football would be more advantageous to their development than playing in a seniors game that means nothing.

Possible I suppose. But using that rationale, I wonder why he promoted Gamble. Or kept Prismall in the ones, for that matter.

The well-being of the AFL side has to be the first priority. We are here to win AFL flags, not VFL flags.

Precisely my point. Night or VFL premierships count for little with me. It's the big one that matters and all our efforts should be directed toward that goal.
BTW Paul for 2007 skipper:thumbsu:

O.K let's cut the crap about our coach next year. Eade isn't coming -as much as I'd like him. Neither is Voss - great as he was as a footballer, he's an unknown as coach and won't leave Brisbane in the near future. As much as I'd like Blighty, I can't see him going around again.

Thompson will be back because:
[1] Cookie is still a fan.
[2] It would be unhelpful in the Bertolacci matter for Thomo to depart.
[3] It would cost the club around 400 grand.
[4] There are no standout coaches available.

But he'll be required to change his approach and will have a changed support crew.
