Sorry guys but I think Thommo has to go. Nice bloke [as Cookie & Costa keep saying] but he is tactictly inept. Each club gets a small window of opportunity to win a flag and our time is running out. Malcolm Blight would be my choice. Reckon he might want to redeem himself after the ignominious end to his coaching career at St Kilda. Heard that Guy McKenna might be a prospect too.

I'm not confident it will happen as I reckon Cook & Costa are to close to Thommo and tend to overlook his coaching deficiencies.

Time to go: McCarthy [definitely] Slade[nearly went this year] Kingsley [had too many chances] Ling [turns the pill over too much]
2007 Captain - Paul Chapman

I'd agree with alot of that. After the Roos game I wanted Johnson's blood but unfortunately (wait.....) he's been playing well since then. I very begrudgingly vote to keep the bastard in but 07 he better be a superstar.

Ling won't go. He's too much of a Cat.

I think John Longmire would be a top coach for you considering key forwards is where you break down he has made Barry Hall one of the best in the comp, he could get Mooney, N Ablett and Hawkins firing, realise Ottens is useless at FF and put him in the ruck, and sack Kingsley, Playfair, Gardiner and McCarthy. Combine those talls with G Ablett, Chapman, S Johnson and Stokes and you nearly have an AA forward line.

and steve johnson ;)

Senior Coach - Cresswell
Defense Coach - McCartney
Midfield Coach - Ratten or Voss
Forwards Coach - Longmire
VFL Coach - Tudor.

Looks pretty good to me. Longmire, Pyke and McKenna would be the 3 other potential targets for senior coach IMHO.

I was on the same band wagon to git rid of :thumbsu: Thomson but I had a closer look at why and how this would benefit the club. It wouldn't. It would only set us back. Let's have a look at the BIG picture. Assisstant coaches :) McCarthy 2000-06 has been brilliant has the full back guys in order. (Cresswell had our midfield running and fine tuned they were dangerous) Lovell 2004-06 has no idea the midfield guys are slow and lost. Get rid of him NOW. Finally  Hinkley what can I say 2004-06 1st. didn't he play full back. 2nd. I think he is still playing down there. No idea how to coach. DELIST. To save our club from more embarrassment and to become a team to fear the club needs to make some big decisions NOW. If this club continues to keep players and staff because of there names sake this club will be known as the boys club the club that looks after it's mates not there supporters we deserve better than that.

I am liking the idea of Longmire or Stoneham to take on the forward role. Midfield should be either Hocking or another hard nut.

Head coach is either McKenna or Cresswell. Longmire is an outside chance, especially as he can work with the forwards also.

We DO NEED a total overhaul of the coaching staff. Not too sure if Bomber is in that mix, but at least the secondary level needs a shake up.

ling ????

If you have been watching Geelong this year you wouldnt be confused. If hes not traded he needs re-developed into another position. Hes costing us big time in the middle with turnovers and lack of speed.

NO Cresswell and NO McKenna . Longmire perhaps. If you want to look through rosy glasses at his one year at Geelong - remind yourself of how he's doing at Brisbane. McKenna has a lot of questions over him. And they've been voiced here before.

You have also have to consider the injury run that the Lions have has as well...no Lappin the whole year included...

Malcolm Blight?? Dear oh dear. He couldn't win us a flag then so how do you think he'll do it now?? Surely the game has passed Blighty by.

I hope we have left the SJ argument well and truly behind for good now. Only player in the side that has averaged 2 goals a game. Also, is accurate - has kicked 28.12 in 14 games.

Blighty has been our most succesful coach in recent times. Two grannies, and nearly a premiership. Then got the Crows two.

If he's not a goer:

Creswell left cos of his wife. Family in Qld and she didn't take to living
in Geelong. So I reckon you can forget him.

Stoneham has never coached and we don't have time for on-the-job training.

Lyon would take it but he's a raver and ranter [those days are gone]. Plus he doesn't have a good coaching record in the international series

Not sure about Longmire's credentials or his communication skills.

If Blighty is out, Guy McKenna would be my choice. Well regarded at the Magpies. On the shortlist for Fremantle had Connolly not come up this year. And the fact that Cookie knows him from Westcoast days can't hurt his prospects.

Lovett hasn't come up, so replace him with Ratten. And I'n not convinced about Tudor despite some reasonable success with the 2s this year. I'd like to see Hinkley in that role.

He'll never be traded. It's development or nothing. He'll improve himself cos he cares. You'll see....

Don Nelson Has returned to the Golden state warriors, I believe its time for Blighty to come back to the Cats

Not bad.

Not sure about McKenna - there a some rumblings about him I don't like

It's Lovell btw - but if no-one can get his name right.....

I think I'd like to keep an eye on Tudor - he had nothing to work with last year and pelnty of resources this year - I know some diverse sources tah know him and he sounds an impressive bloke.

Final comments for this discussion, I think.:thumbsu:

Either way there's not much improvement - does he coach the midfield btw, or does Lambert?

he still does the most stupidest things that you can but only just laugh at...and the coaching staff should tell him that other clubs have cottoned onto him trying to baulk them.
