Does anyone have any thoughts on the current NRL Coaching situation?

  • Will Bennett stay with the Broncos? Does it really matter who did or did not attend a BBQ?
  • Who do Penrith really have in mind ? Should I say who does Phil Gould have in mind.
  • Is Ivan Cleary that comitted to Wests Tigers? If not the Wests coaching position is also up for grabs.
  • Will Anthony Seibold stay with the Rabbitohs? He has hinted his future is elsewhere.
  • Is Michael McGuire Manly bound? If so will he get the resources Barrett claims he could not get?
  • If McGuire goes to Manly where does Barrett end up?
  • Would Manly, Penrith, Brisbane and South Sydney be happy with so much speculation on the eve of finals?
One thing about the AFL it is highly unlikely that there would be so much speculation about the coaching futures of so many top eight Coaches on the eve of the finals. I doubt a final eight AFL side would sack it's Coach four weeks out from the finals as Penrith did.

Wayne Bennett and Tigers deny talks as the Panthers circle Ivan Cleary

Brisbane supercoach Wayne Bennett has reaffirmed his commitment to the Broncos next year as he and Wests Tigers denied the seven-time premiership winner had been approached to replace Ivan Cleary.

It took just three days for the confetti to settle after the NRL grand final before the off-season coaching merry-go-round cranked up with a report that Bennett had been shopped to the Tigers for 2020.

While Bennett is happy to entertain any offers from 2020 onwards, Tigers fans will be wanting to know what happens in the short term, especially with Penrith confident they can get Cleary for the start of pre-season training next month.

Bennett first heard about being linked to the Tigers after a morning chat with his sister early on Wednesday. Bennett made a point there was no way he would walk out on Red Hill early.

Bennett confirmed Rabbitohs coach for 2020/21.

So that means Siebold is very likely to head to Brisbane.

Without wanting to get all Donald Trump about it, you have to feel that there has to be a winner and a loser there?

Brisbane the winners, Souths the losers

I'd have preferred Souths just try and retain David Furner than go after Bennett

Furner departed before Siebold confirmed his decision to take the Broncos offer over staying at Souths unfortunately. Souths understandably waiting on his decision.

We'll see how this pans out. It may be a failure it may be a pleasant success. Very mixed reactions from supporters.

Wayne's making finals strike rate as coach is quite phenomenal for a coach that has coached the last 31 seasons let alone the flags he's won and his Broncos have the wood on Souths.

He's keen and he will now have to prove himself.

I'm very happy for Maguire. He went stale at Souths but he has shown with the Kiwis he can still be a very good coach and will be interesting to see how he handles this challenge which is not all that different from taking the Souths challenge in 2011.
