I love the cold, and can't stand summer.

I love rugging up in multiple layers, and wearing beanies. Lying in bed while it rains and the wind crashes into the house. Walking through the dreary sidestreets of West Melbourne to the footy while German backpackers clad in T shirts, shorts and thongs yell at us from their balconies. Having a kick of the footy on a muddy suburban ground with a picturesque backdrop, framed by thunderous skies. Slogging through the wet to a corner pub in the inner city and having a beer by the fire. Sitting wrapped in a blanket on the couch watching old games of footy on a Saturday morning.

Sitting by the pool with a beer watching the cricket on a 40 degree day sounds fantastic (particularly that my team has maintained order and missed the finals), but nothing beats a miserable Melbourne winter for me.

Summer in Melbourne is horrible too when you can't even go for a swim. If you want to, it's oil-spilt St Kilda or a trip to the coast, and the beaches there are still shit and treacherous. Aside from what the city has, there really isn't a whole lot on offer in this place past December. And then February is the pits.

It's lucky I hate the beach.

February's disgusting every year in Melbourne, there's absolutely nothing to look forward to in February and the dry heat always kills any motivation for anything that might come up anyway.

You're a Doggie supporter that's totally understandable.

It was so cold in Willaston (-1) the other nite, when I grabbed my phone, it was lovely and warm, comforting actually, like a hot water bottle.

Being cold is alright. As others have said, rugging up is a lot better than the alternative when it's hot.

But when it's so cold that it hurts to move, that's when it gets a bit ridiculous. And having to wear clothes to bed is just annoying and disrupts my sleep.

Get a good doona brah. Clothing not required.

Cold and flu versus women in short skirts and skimpy tops. Thankfully at 40 my testosterone hasn't yet dropped to the level of an 80 year old woman preferring the former just yet. Summer > Winter. Though an Autumn or Spring day warm enough that the skimpy clothing is broken out by the fairer sex, without sweating like a pig is a perfect day.

What about tight leggings and short skirts? Good pair of levis, with a short coat?

Winter fashion can be very easy on the eye of an arse man.

Been around 32-34 degrees for a week or two (that's hot here). I'd like some of your 'cold' now actually :)

Where's the old dislike button when you need it?

Was at the footy on Saturday, I've never been so cold in my life, my legs were actually shaking.

Girls in winter clothes has to be the most underrated thing this side of the Barassi, though

Tight jeans / skirt can be good, except almost all are wearing black or dark blue which makes it borderline impossible to see any shape. Must say though with the cold weather that it's good motivation to hit the gym each week in this shit weather, as at least there there's plenty of eye candy, not covered to the hilt.

Summer would be okay if it wasn't like 25 degrees at the crack of dawn. Always found it difficult to sleep in during summer.

Normally I would be team winter, but it depends on where the winter is. One place's summer can be another place's winter. Canberra's winter is a fraction too in-your-face and lazy-inducing.

I wouldn't consider myself an anything man but I like a good outfit on a lass and winter's when it comes out. Not getting a job out of it means nothing in comparison to the girls you find in Arts degrees... Doc Martens, raincoats, scarves, the darker tones of lipstick comes out... bloody hell, the best Jerry, the best!

I'd have to see you wearing that gear first before I make judgement. But it does sound nice in an Ian Thorpe kinda way.

Is this a dig at our efforts in the NAB Challenge? :drunk:

We're conditioned to losing, it doesn't take away from our excitement for the season :p

Only a true aesthete can appreciate the subtleties of the stunning beauty that is an overcast Melbourne day. It's all in the infinitely variegated light. Cinematographers from around the world marvel at what our locals are able to achieve with this. Much better than the two-trick pony of blue skies or torrential rain which blights the environs to our north. In comparison, if it rains for a while (even days) here, it's rarely so consistently heavy that it prevents you from getting out and doing things (or people) in it.

That's beautiful. I just like sitting in pubs watching people with things to do getting rained on.
