I do a little happy dance any morning in February when the forecast is double figures. On the deck with a beer at near 10pm watching the sun go down. Still 24 degrees out.

Minus six this morning in Canberra, the fourth morning in row with temps below minus five. And we haven’t got the really cold months yet.
Heating has tripled the electricity bill. Usually don't bother with air con in summer (just use fan) and don't mind the heat.
I could have died one night in Canberra. I went to bed in my caravan wearing everything I had plus the sleeping bag, with a space blanket over the top and a small radiant heater on. During the night I got a bit warm so took off my windcheater and threw it. Unfortunately it landed on the heater, which I didn't realise. A bit later I woke up with the van full of smoke! We can laugh about it now my friends...I was in Canberra a long time ago in the winter. I had windburn on the second dawn lighting candles outside. Having said that I love winter.
Dont use heating or air con and have wooden floors too. Blankets and jumpers in winter, fans in summer.
3 bedroom house with 3 people and manage $280 electricity bills quarterly. But sometimes it isnt fun.
Just got my quarterly bill. $190.
When’s it going to clear up? Will be there fri to sun next weekendVery cold in Melbourne yesterday, only got to 9.6 degrees and was foggy for most of the day.

I wouldn't expect anything too great though, mostly cloudy and about 13 degrees most days at the moment. It didn't seem THAT cold during the week. Yes, it was crisp but not particularly uncomfortable. Maybe the fact that my flat has no insulation and therefore stays below 10 degrees all winter means I don't notice as much when outside.Minus six again this morning in Tuggeranong (South Canberra), and the novelty is starting to wear thin fairly quickly. It is so cold it would freeze the nipples off a Polar Bear.
The wind's the real killer. I was working in my shed with no heater and the roll-a-door open wearing a tee shirt and no jumper working on my bike when it was -2.8 here the other night. As a matter of fact I tried to use the garden hose to rinse off some paint stripper but it wouldn't flow because the water was frozen. Today I was shivering and it was 11 degrees but windy. It didn't seem THAT cold during the week. Yes, it was crisp but not particularly uncomfortable. Except when it is windy, not that it gets all that windy here too often; but when it does it can match the Antarctic Howler that screams up the Derwent into Hobart sometimes.
Is anyone else noticing this winter being a fair bit colder than average winters?
