Just a lazy way of presenting it. They often call it the humidex here. It’s usually no more than 5 degrees or so.

In winter it’s windchill. If it’s only -5 but the windchill is -20 then you probably want to take note.
I get that and it's handy for the snow or any open terrain but when they're breaking down for suburbs it's just daft. If you're in between buildings compared to a park it's going to be different so they should break it down by every metre of the planet or not at all.

The last two weeks in Melbourne has been below the average temperature for August. Boo!

I'm suss that the new weather station for Melbourne at Olympic Park (since 2015) gives colder temperatures because it's at an oval, but I don't know enough about it.

It definitely does in summer I reckon. I have noticed that when comparing it to other locations in Melbourne it can be quite a few degrees less.

The old weather station in La Trobe Street was no longer providing realistic weather data due to the amount of skyscrapers and volume of traffic in the area. Wind recordings at the site were switched off in 2009 as they were being obstructed by CBD buildings and were not providing accurate data.

The new site at Olympic Park is more reflective of the actual weather conditions in Melbourne and also meet the World Meteorological Organisation observation standards. The old site's temperatures were inflated due to the proximity of the CBD with the new site now better reflecting the weather conditions of Melbourne.

I could sit down on that deck all afternoon and watch this. Something therapeutic about it.

Yeah, that was a weird one. It was a sudden quick one that flooded some businesses. I live in the suburb next to that one and we didn’t cop it half as bad.

4:20pm Forecast for Melbourne: "30 percent chance of rain this evening, most likely in the northern suburbs, slight chance elsewhere. ".... My arse! It's pissing down in Hampton, etc, and I'm on my bike. Boo. Ha. :p Jee, they really farked that one up.
They updated the forecast at 8:14pm. Unscheduled updates are rare.
