Very true. Nowhere in Australia is genuinely "cold" outside a few mountain towns and some of thsoe are ski resorts. Even the occasional minus seven, and regular minus four, here isn't cold by the standards of much of the world. Its largely about what you're conditioned to, and a psychological component.

For me, gently into the minuses isn't a problem. I feel it, but its OK. I struggle at the other side. At quite low temperatures by most people's standards I'm barely functional.
Its going to be 7 tonight at my place thats cold
Im putting on my jim-jams and going to bed at sunset to watch TV under the doonah

I had a similar problem with English winters. It rarely got cold enough to get the winter wonderland postcard postcard scene and reality was for most of the time it was single figures and drizzling which is not much fun at all.

It was really cold in Melbourne today, was still only about 4 degrees where I am at 10 o'clock, had to turn up the heater a few notches! Eventually made it to about 12 when the sun came out this arvo.

Australian winters can be irritating because no snow and death threat means builders have compared to other countries been cutting corners for decades.

Still about 19-20 low at night here. If it gets to 17-ish, I grab the bedsocks and an extra doona, but feel pretty blessed compared to chillier places I've lived.

Awful weather here. Started the day with jeans and skivvy. Then changed to shorts and t-shirt before lunch. Now back to jeans and skivvy.
